Description
If you would like to spend some time among the redwoods, this is the place -- the small village of Shively. It is near the Eel River for fishing, swimming or just enjoying laying in the warm sunshine. In just a short drive, you can be on the Avenue of the Giants, Founders Grove or Rockefeller Forest where you can view and/or hike among the beauty of the redwoods. Further north is the Victorian village of Ferndale, the ocean or Humboldt Bay. The space This home sits on 2 ½ acres and was a family run dairy in the 50's. The house has been completely renovated and the bedrooms are furnished with antique pieces. You can sit out by the spring fed pond and watch the wild geese, listen to the bullfrogs or hunt for turtles. You might even see a Great Blue Heron. Other visitors include wild turkeys, quail, doves and many other birds. Due to the abundant wildlife we request NO PETS as guests. All you have to do is just relax and enjoy the peace and quiet and watch the abundant wildlife. Guest access You have free run of this home and access to the fruit trees along side of the house. The owner will drop by with seasonal fruits and/or veggies if he is home while you are there. After October 15th, it will be a 30 minute drive off of 101 to get to the house. Other things to note This is a place to unplug. No wi-fi available. Most cells phone do work in this area. We do ask that you not bring your pets as there is a lot of wildlife and we do not want to see your pet or any of the wildlife injured.
