On a clear night, the sprawling yard is a stargazers dream. Roast smore's at the fire-pit with a symphony of tree frogs, owls and an unforgettable lightning bug show. The Willam De Kooning story goes a little something like this: This working chicken coop was built in 1947, and was converted by Audrey Hemenway ( a local feminist environmentalist artist ) in the early 70's. She worked mostly in cement ( made the incredible painted floor tiles, Wisteria arbor, + sculptural yard furnishings ). She also made an enormous mural, countertops, doors and other details throughout the main house. She designed the stunning Wisteria arbor in the yard ( I encourage you to walk through ). The 4 openings seem to be set north, south , east + west. She was having an affair with William De Kooning, who was living in the house with her for several years. Guest access The house is a 5000 sq ft long ranch w/ 3 separate units ( each with its own private locked entrances). Your indoor space is completely private. The communal yard is sprawling and modernly furnished. It's basically dog heaven! There are both shaded + sunny areas including: firepit, outdoor shower, front deck with chaise lounge, charcoal grill and the 50 year old Wisteria arbor is not to be missed. Other things to note While UPS, USPS, Fedex + Amazon all deliver to the house daily, Uber / taxi service is limited so it is highly recommended to have a car.
