Watchtower at Fortaleza
The Watchtower is a spacious and unique two-story apartment with breathtaking views of the mountains that sits atop a landmark Santa Fe office building. Designed and built by a local architect/artist it features lofty ceilings, rustic hardwood floors, handmade cabinetry, a full bathtub, lots of light, a fully equipped kitchen and in-unit laundry with all you need to both work and relax. The main floor contains a kitchen looking out onto a living room with dining table, tv and twin daybed/sofa and a roomy bathroom. The spacious kitchen contains a new gas stove, microwave, Bosch dishwasher, and a full-size fridge. The upstairs is a bedroom / workspace featuring 360° views, vaulted ceilings, a queen-sized bed with cozy linens and a spacious closet. A large desk and office chair are set to look out to the Sangre de Cristo mountains. Morning sunrises are superb! ________ NOTE: There are MANY stairs associated with the apartment. There are 18 steps going up to the space from the main entrance and 15 between the two floors of the apartment. Hardwood stairs can be slippery so we always recommend dedicated house shoes / slippers. The Watchtower is part of the Fortaleza Coyote, a landmark building that is home to a handful of eco-conservation organizations and specialists. The building maintains a quiet atmosphere; however, we are in an urban neighborhood with a few dogs. The Watchtower may not be the best location if you are extremely sound sensitive. Directly below this apartment is a seed cleaning studio (where seeds are cleaned) which may occasionally translate to hearing fan/machine sounds during business hours. Please also note, in the summer months, the unit can be warm. There is a mini split which provides both heat and a/c in the unit. The unit is accessed through an exterior door leading to a shared internal stairwell shared by longstanding office tenants. Bikes may be stored in this area however we are not responsible for guest belongings left in this area. Shady, tree-lined streets with sidewalks make for a congenial neighborhood feel. Set between the Lena Street and Baca Arts Districts. Walkable to many neighborhoods, restaurants and attractions. Close to many local favorite hangout spots: Iconik coffee, La Reina, The Pantry and Counter Culture. *Park in reserved parking spot in the lot.* No RVs please. Plaza and Round House are a short drive away. Close access to Cerrillos Road, St. Micheal's, and St. Francis. Unit is close to TWO main veins of the city bike path network. Bike parking available in shared stairwell.
