Kitchen is equipped with cooking essentials+ hosts provide water, coffee, tea, milk, fresh eggs + homemade soap. There is an indoor compostable toilet + outhouse + outdoor shower. Most seasons, the cabin is 100ft from parking, but weather conditions may require an 800 ft walk from parking at main house. The space Rennsli cabin is cozy but rustic. It does not have indoor plumbing or electricity + is heated with a wood stove that requires replenishment during your stay. Nicole and I will make sure that you arrive to a warm space but guests will need to put wood on fire as needed pending outdoor temperatures. Wood, kindling and paper provided. Kitchen has a propane refrigerator, cookstove, sink and water dispenser for drinking and washing. Pots, pans, utensils, glassware, towels all provided. An outdoor grill is available year round. There is a fire pit outside, where you will be able to star gaze, without any light pollution. If requested, we can provide showers, WiFi + charging station in main house (host occupied), with understanding that we live off grid, so conservation of water is a must. May to October, guest can you the outdoor shower at the cabin. If you have AT+T you will have better cell service than Verizon or T-Mobile. We have two german shepherds, Blu + Rumi (sweet and trained) who would love to say hello. They are usually off leash, but if guests prefer to minimize contact with dogs, we will keep them contained during your stay. Dogs are welcome in the cabin (added cleaning fee is $45 per stay - no cats please) with advance discussion regarding whether or not our dogs should socialize or stay separate. We recommend your dog stay on leash since property is not fenced and wild turkeys, hawks, deer, porcupines, fisher cats, foxes, black bear and moose frequently visit. Snow tires and AWD/4WD is required November-May since our property is accessed by dirt roads that can be muddy, icy and snowy based on the season. The Town of Dover takes great care of our town roads, but mother nature is unpredictable, so check the weather. Guests are responsible for their own towing costs if necessary. All structures on property are solar-powered (off grid) and designed to be as self-sustaining as possible. Year round, our family cares for a flock of chickens and provides their fresh eggs to guests. Vegetables, herbs and various animals are raised on site to provide our sustenance. Nicole also makes hand crafted soap which are available for sale. Guest access Rennsli Cabin is located 1/2 mile from the access road "White"s Hill", which is the eastern border to the Green Mountain National Forest. Turning right onto Pasture Lane you will drive along a beautiful meadow (High Mowing Field), then you enter the forest and drive through an "S" curve to a straight away that ends at our main house. You then veer right and drive approximately 1000 feet to parking for the cabin. The parking is approximately 100 feet from the cabin. We may ask that you park at the main house and walk down due to certain weather conditions.
