It can be used as a dry or wet sauna—whatever suits your relaxation style. 🔥 Fire Pit for Cozy Nights – Two Adirondack chairs rest around the large outdoor fire pit. We provide a bundle of firewood for your stay, plus outdoor blankets for those crisp mountain nights. 🍽️ Well-Stocked Kitchen & Dining – The kitchen has a stove/oven (a little smaller than standard, but does the trick!), a microwave, full-size fridge, and both a French press & coffee maker. We provide coffee, tea, salt, pepper, oils, and other essentials. The cozy dining nook is great for meals, puzzles, games, or even WFH. 🛏️ Loft Bedroom with a Treehouse Feel – The open loft features a low-profile queen bed with a comfy foam mattress, where you can wake up to views of the trees behind the property. To access the loft, you’ll need to duck under a beam and climb the narrow steep stairs. Please be careful on the stairs! 🛋️ Cozy Living Area – A comfy leather couch (that can sleep one person if needed), an electric fireplace, a flat-screen smart TV, and a record player. We’ve also tucked a plethora of games, puzzles, and coloring books inside the coffee table for rainy days. 🚿 Bathroom & Laundry – Features a stone shower, flush toilet, washer/dryer, and two cozy robes for guest use. 🏊 Community Swimming Hole – Just a 5-minute walk from the cabin, the lake is perfect for a summer dip. We provide a guest pass (required for lake access) and two pool noodles if you want to float and relax! Other Things to Note 📶 Cell Service & WiFi – Cell service is spotty, but our WiFi is strong and supports all your streaming and web surfing needs. 🏡 Extra Building on the Property – There is one additional building on-site that is currently being renovated and is not accessible to guests. Thanks for your understanding! 🐶 Dog-Friendly! – We love dogs, and Oakley (our golden retriever) insists we allow them! 🐾 We welcome up to two dogs for a $40 pet fee. We just ask that: 🚽 Septic System – Since we are on a septic system, please only flush toilet paper and human waste—thank you for helping us keep things running smoothly! ❌ Not Suitable for Children – Due to the loft stairs and other cabin features, this space is not safe for young children. For nearly five years, this little retreat was simply 'Cabin 135'—not because we didn’t care, but because we put all of our energy into making the space cozy and welcoming rather than coming up with the perfect name. We always joked that we would name it eventually, and after a lot of back and forth (and some wandering thoughts of our own), we finally landed on The Wandering Bear Cabin. It just fits. Bears tend to wander—sometimes with purpose, sometimes in circles, but always finding their way to where they are meant to be. We hope that’s exactly how you feel here—whether you are looking for adventure or just a quiet place to slow down and rest. 🐻 Welcome to The Wandering Bear Cabin. Enjoy your stay! Guest access There is keyless entry. We will provide guests with their code prior to check-in. Other things to note During the winter months, please ensure you have tire chains and/or AWD. You will need these when traveling past Longmire in MRNP. You may also benefit from these when traveling to our cabin, if there is snow. The driveway to our cabin in is short and flat, but you may encounter some ice. We do shovel as often, however, there may be a chance that you'll need to drive through some snow/ice. There are power outages from time to time around the mountain. There are flashlights in the cabinet under the record player in case there is a loss of power. Outages typically last just a couple hours.
