Step back in time with a stay at the Lazy Y Mountain Farm. The 1890's era farmhouse located on a working 300 acre cattle farm in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains is the perfect mountain escape. We are located in Grassy Creek, NC near the Virginia line. The house is just minutes away from Grayson Highlands State Park, The Virginia Creeper Trail, West Jefferson, Helton Creek, and the New River. Described as reminiscent of visiting grandma's house as a child, the house is almost frozen in time. You will find many historic architectural details such as the antique locksets, door knobs, and the original solid oak flooring, wainscoting and molding. Care was taken when we updated the house to preserve that character while insuring you had everything you need for a pleasant stay. Wi-fi is fiber based and has all the bandwidth you will likely need. We intentionally do not have a television set in the house. You will need to bring a device with you, should you wish to stream content while you are visiting. There are two large bedrooms with a queen and a full bed. A smaller bedroom has bunkbeds. In a pinch, you could also sleep on the couch. The fenced yard is spacious both front and back. Enjoy relaxing at the outdoor seating area with a table and fire pit down by the spring. The house lacks central air conditioning, but does have two window units. As when it was built in the 1890's, air conditioning is seldom needed. Even in the warmest months of summer, just open the front and back doors or a few windows and you will find a pleasant mountain breeze is nearly always stirring. Lazy Y Mountain Farm is a 7 generation family farm. It is a working farm. Depending on the time of year, you may see the cattle herd or our hay harvest. At the Lazy Y, you will have the house to yourself. In addition, there is a large yard with a spring, outdoor seating, and a fire pit. Lazy Y Mountain Farm is a family operation. Someone from the farm is usually on the property, but not always immediately available. Lazy Y Mountain Farm is the perfect place to get away from it all. The home is tucked back in a hollow. You may sit on the porch with a cup of coffee and hear nothing but the sounds of nature around you. Lazy Y Mountain Farm is about 20 minutes from shopping and restaurants in West Jefferson, NC. The Farm is about 5-minutes from world renowned trout waters of Helton Creek. Also near the New River and Grayson Highlands State Park, outdoor recreation opportunities abound. Automobile transportation is recommended. Lazy Y Mountain Farm is in a rural area and you will need a car to get around. The secondary roads around Grassy Creek are excellent roads for biking. You will find little traffic, big climbs, and beautiful vistas. Many of the roads are gravel / hard pack. I've saved a couple of my strava routes in the photo section. We are also close to the Virginia Creeper trail if you are looking for a more relaxed ride.
