The space Enjoy 5,000+ square feet of beautiful, spacious, fully refinished living areas including two fully stocked kitchens, two dining areas, 2 large living rooms, a game and reading loft, and a children's loft complete with spiral staircase and Scandinavian themed wooden toys. The home's comfortable 5 bedrooms (capable of sleeping up to 24 in beds) and attached bathrooms should more than accommodate large groups and gatherings. After you've skiied all the champagne powder your legs can handle, retreat back to the lodge and enjoy hours of entertainment with the 75" 4k UHD TV screen, a full body massage chair, oversized cedar sauna, movie collection, board games, high speed internet, and pool table. Two spacious decks, a large cedar sauna, private hot tub and lower patio, enormous fire-pit seating area, horse shoe ring, corn hole boards, picnic area, and ample outdoor activity space should keep everyone entertained when not adventuring in Utah's incredible outdoors. The Bear Trap Fork hiking trail departs immediately from the cabin and provides a beautiful challenge that eventually intersects the famous Wasatch Crest biking and hiking ridge-line trail. A short 5 minute walk from the Nordic Haus and you will find yourself dining in one of Big Cottonwood Canyon's best eateries, the Silverfork Lodge. The Nordic Haus is located just a 3 minute drive away from the IKON-PASS ski resort Solitude, and about 5 minutes from the Brighton ski resort. For our ski-touring guests, the Nordic Haus is immediately adjacent to a skin track which doubles as a beautiful hiking and biking trail in the summer months. Formerly known as the “Bear Trap Lodge.” Guest access The entire home and beautiful property is yours to explore! The property is bordered on 3 sides by forest land and is an explorers paradise. In the wintertime (November-April), 4x4 or All-wheel Drive vehicles with high clearance are MANDATORY by law. Please do not try to enter the canyon without 4 wheel drive and/or chains. If you get stuck in the snow due to a low clearance vehicle or not having 4 wheel drive, we are unable to assist and you’ll need to hire a towing service. The driveway and home is plowed promptly after any storm with substantial accumulation (3+ inches). Other things to note This is a unique property. Please read the entire listing before booking. Some items mentioned by previous guests for the clarification and knowledge of our guests: During the winter months (November-mid April), all visitors must have a high clearance, four-wheel drive vehicle, with snow capable tires, no exceptions. Every car rental shop will have something like this available to rent. If this is a challenge, there are many alternative forms of transportation available. We are happy to help in this regard. We will not be held liable and cannot be of assistance if you get stuck on snowy roads with an improper vehicle. Propane tanks are provided for the grill, but we do not provide a propane refill service should the propane run out during your stay. We provide limited firewood to each guest. If additional firewood is desired this can be purchased at the nearby gas station at the mouth of Big Cottonwood Canyon. Please burn wood responsibly and only in the main floor fireplace. No bonfires. This is a cabin in the woods! Mice and pests are constantly trying to get inside. If guests leave the doors open, mice WILL get inside. We have many anti-pest measures in place including traps, spray, poison, and sonic deterrents. Please promptly shut all exterior doors and do not block doors open. On a rare occasion, mice may enter the home. If you see any please let us know so we can take care of it. Guests have to understand this is the nature of any home or dwelling in mountainous and wooded areas.
