Description

*Price includes cleaning fee* 18 miles from the Mexican border & in the heart of downtown Patagonia, AZ sits The Gravel House. A combination of two structures; a straw bale home & a smaller wooden studio. This remote destination property sits quietly at 4,058 feet, the gateway to the San Rafael Valley. This is a place to leave reality behind, dream, and immerse yourself in the high desert of the Borderland region. Ride your gravel or road bike, hike, bird watch or just be! The space Welcome to The Gravel House! The two structures on this property are tucked away inside a private large fenced in yard. The Straw Bale house sleeps six people & The Raven's Nest studio sleeps two. The Straw Bale home stays incredibly cool during the summer months. In the winter, stay cozy & warm by the gas stove fire place in both the studio & the main house. Both kitchen's are fully equipped with everything from handmade stoneware pottery to cast iron pans. We are Chef's ourselves & we take the importance of having everything you need in the kitchen very seriously. It's that much more fun to have a kitchen to cook a feast in, especially when you're out of the comforts of your own home. Enjoy an outdoor meal on the porch next to the fruit orchard (17 Asian pair trees, 7 apple trees & 1 peach tree). Bring a bottle of Rune Wine (Sonoita, AZ) or a cold Pueblo Vida beer (Tucson, AZ) out to the fire pit area and watch the stars come out! The Straw Bale home sleeps up to six people comfortably. The Raven's Nest, our second structure, has one queen bed and works great for two people. The entire property has three bedrooms in total, two full bathrooms + one outdoor shower, two full kitchens & a "nook" with a curtain for privacy with another queen pull-out bed tucked away from the dining area. Both structures have a smart TV. ***If you have any interest in renting this property for a party/event of more than 8 people, please inquire & we're happy to give you pricing! NOTE: We're happy to allow 1 dog to travel with you to The Gravel House. If you have a doggie that you'd like to bring along for the adventure, please let us know and we will make sure the house is ready for your furry friend! However, the gravel routes are far more extensive than the road routes. All rider abilities welcome here! We have a trailer for you to store your bikes in. Upon booking this house, please let us know if you are bike riders and we will get your dialed with the lock code. In this trailer, we have a floor pump for you to use and a small group of tools. If you are coming here to ride bikes, we highly recommend a good bike tune and bringing any extra parts, just in case. There is no bike shop in the town of Patagonia. If you have any interest in a bike guide/bike rental during your stay at The Gravel House, please let us know and we will provide you all the necessary information. ___ GENERAL: Wifi available (Note: Patagonia is known for slower Wifi, especially if a lot of people are online!), a printer is a available, linens provided, towels provided, hairdryer (in main house), ceiling fans, swamp cooler is available although you likely won't need it & large mudroom to store adventure gear. ___ GUEST ACCESS: While you're staying here, The Gravel House is your private space. If you have 2 or more vehicles; feel free to park on our side of the street/in front of the house. Pull around to the Pennsylvania street side of the house, open the sliding gate & pull right in. You're welcome to park on 3rd Ave, too, just outside The Raven's Nest, our studio home. We've got some hanging lights under the carport for your enjoyment at night, feel free to pull smaller vehicles under the roof if it fits with the arrangement. *We've hand collected all of the treasures around this home, please enjoy and take care of everything. If you break one of our stoneware pottery items, it happens! Not to worry. If you do break something, it is always helpful to let us know. Thank you :) This way we can have it on order for future guests. *This house has old plumbing & has a septic system. PLEASE do not flush anything other than toilet paper. THANK YOU! *The shower in the main house is very sensitive. When you turn the hot & cold nobs on/off, please turn very gently and slightly. Thanks :) Other things to note During the summer months, the weather in Patagonia is very beautiful. It is the high desert and The Gravel House sits at 4,058ft in elevation. In the evening, open the windows as the temps begin to cool down and feel the house become incredibly comfortable. Similarly, because the house is a straw bale structure, during the winter months, keep the windows closed to keep the heat inside and warm. Feel free to open them during the winter months for a nice draft if needed!
