Morningside Farmhouse and Meadows, No Pet Fees

Beautiful 1900 family farmhouse with lots of breathing room! This amazing no pet fee dog friendly piece of heaven is 14 secluded acres on the eastern edge of our farm, founded in 1760. Beautiful meadows, forest, springs, creek and pond. Pet friendly. We love doggy visitors! Hike over the farm, anf large fenced meadows. Enjoy the fire pit. Have a really large group? Add Sunrise Cottage and Meadows, also on the farm. Or Middleside Farmhouse, likewise on the farm. The space This property has a special meaning to us. After being in the family about 140 years it was given as a wedding presents by my wife’s great grandfather Chrisman Stone to his daughter Carrie and her husband Glen Ward, and they built Morningside in 1900. At their death the house and property fell out of the family for about 60 years but now 120 years after its construction it’s back, after a year’s restoration. Mornngside is welcoming new friends and visitors to its tall ceilinged rooms, dark starry nights, and verdant fields. Enjoy the comforts and quirks of a county farmhouse! Likewise, Middleside Farmhouse and Meadows, also on the farm. This is a century-old farmhouse surrounded by hundreds of acres of open countryside. We love visitors. But not every single one of them is welcome! Try as we might, we cannot keep out every errant wasp, bee, mouse, or stinkbug seeking food and shelter. If you are looking for sterile environment, you will need to look elsewhere. Thx for understanding! Please bring your own bar soap and shampoo. (Bring paper towels if needed; cloth napkins/kitchen towels provided. Go Green!) What’s more, if you come in the very cold weather months, don’t expect a toasty 75 degrees throughout the house. This is a 1900 vintage farmhouse without central heat. Strong monitor heaters keep the central house warm, and radiant heaters scattered about do likewise, but if you’re used to Florida winters, this house will probably disappoint you on a bitter cold November or December day — what is perfectly fine for us may cold be for you. Green Meadow Pond is fully fenced and available for your use, a great place for a dog swim, and exploring the fields and forest, but there is no fishing. Guest access Guests are welcome to roam the acreage around the house, as well the surrounding fields and woods of the farm. In July 2021 we added 22 acres of meadow, forest, and Green Meadow Pond, just a five minute drive from the farmhouse, which is open to your use. It’s so pretty!! Good dog swimming! Fully fenced now. The farm has great dog walking, and some of the pastures are fully fenced, if your pooch normally needs a leash but you want to let him run; just ask and I’ll tell you the details. Other things to note The house is fully air conditioned, tho you can also shut off the AC and open windows and let in the fresh breezes, with the help if you like of window box fans at night, when the temperature always drops beautifully. The mountains here stay a full ten to 15 degrees cooler than DC, Charlotte, Winston, and Charlottesville. It can be gloriously chilly some Summer mornings. There are a variety of bed sizes, but all are full or twin beds which may not be big enough for all guests. No secondary booking, meaning no booking for someone else’s use. 95% of the guests at our airbnbs bring pets, mostly dogs, and they appreciate our friendly pet policies. We work very hard after every visit to clear up any left behind dog hair, and there’s often quite a lot of it! If we miss some, it’s not for lack of trying like crazy to get it all. But fair warning: if you are not dog people or are not bringing dogs, and will be upset by stray left behind dog hair, you should probably seek other accommodations.
