Escape and Engage at Bray Barn Farm!
Spacious, quiet carriage house in the Western Maine foothills nestled between farmhouse and barn. 15 acres of gardens, meadows and woods. Great for meandering and wandering about, walking the labyrinth, resting in the shade garden and orchid, and visiting with the donkeys and goats. Sleeps five. Great for time with family and friends, as well as solitude. We gladly accept all persons 21 and older. We welcome children and infants. 4 miles north of Farmington towards Sugarloaf. The space Fun, roomy design with a Maine woods spirit. Sleeps 5. 2 bedrooms, one on first floor and one in the loft. Sofa Sleeper in common area. Pac n Play available. Porch and Deck. Great for cross-country and snowshoeing in the winter. Very cool woodstove. Fire pit in the meadow and a cozy hammock hidden under spruce trees. Downtown Farmington is great--University of Maine Farmington, good restaurants, a great independent bookstore and Reny's (a Maine tradition!). We are about 45 minutes from great hiking trails—Appalachian, Mount Blue, Tumbledown. Kingfield is 25 minutes, Sugarloaf area about 35 to 40 minutes. Rangeley Lake area about 45 minutes. Clearwater Lake is about 10 minutes. We have lived in Maine about 13 years. We love Maine. We love to share our small farm and our more rural way of being in the world (we spent many, many years in the city). We love our animals. We have two rescued miniature donkeys (Lulu and Rosta), two goats (Frank and Wiley) a baker's dozen of free range chickens (plenty of fresh eggs for you!), and two cats, Percy and Zoe, who roam here and there. Welcome! Guest access Guests will have the carriage house to themselves, about 1050 square feet. Other things to note So the song goes: "Sweetly sings the donkey at the break of day. If you do not feed [her] this is what [she] says. Hee haw, hee haw, hee haw, hee haw!" The donkeys like to be fed early. If we are not there on time, well, they may greet you in the morning. Could be before coffee! PLEASE NOTE THAT DURING THE WINTER OUR LONG DRIVEWAY SOMETIMES IS HARD TO NAVIGATE, ESPECIALLY WHEN WE'VE HAD A DAYTIME WARM-UP ABOVE 32. MELT TURNS TO ICE. TWO-WHEEL DRIVE IS A CHALLENGE. ALL WHEEL AND 4-WHEEL NO PROBLEM!
