The Guesthouse at Downey Family Farm

Cozy yet spacious renovated log cabin on our small farm in Maryland's picturesque countryside. Large bedrooms, two bathrooms, great Wi-Fi, and fully-equipped kitchen and washer/dryer make this a great place to stay with your family. The Guesthouse is conveniently located with easy access to I-795, and is 35 minutes from BWI Airport. The space In addition to the entire furnished home, guests will have a large, flat, grassy yard to enjoy, along with a pavilion with outdoor seating and tables. We’re also happy to show guests around the entire farm and introduce them to our Texas Longhorn cattle. Guest access Guests have access to the entire house, the backyard, and private driveway. Guests do NOT have access to the garage or the animal areas unless escorted by one of the hosts, which we are more than willing to do. The cows are friendly and can be carefully petted at the fence. Other things to note The main farmhouse where the hosts reside is next door to the guesthouse. Although it is rural, it is not “secluded.” There are neighbors nearby, and there are a lot of sounds - the train passes by twice a day, cows moo and the livestock dog barks, etc. There are white noise machines in each bedroom and earplugs in the bathroom closet if you should need them. The rustic nature of the 1800’s log cabin means that insulation is not up to current standards. For the summer there are split-air units in the main bedroom and living room, as well as a couple of window units in the bunk room and dining room. The main bedroom can get uncomfortably warm during the hottest summer days, but cools off overnight. The rest of the house stays cool enough for comfort. We have excellent Wi-Fi. Guests have worked and attended online school from the guesthouse with no problems.
