Beautifully positioned with views of the surrounding forest and mountains, this home features a bright interior with updates that everyone is sure to appreciate, from a new leather sectional sofa to new counters in the kitchen and bathrooms. Enjoy the vaulted great room with its floor-to-ceiling windows and wood-burning stove and gather around the deck and firepit to cap summer days of hiking and mountain biking. This home sits just around the corner (a quarter-mile) from the base of Mt. Abram, making this an ideal escape for skiers and snowboarders. You'll also find ample opportunities for snowshoeing and snowmobiling in the area. Sound Pond, North Pond, and Round Pond are all less than three miles away, offering public access points for swimming, kayaking, and fishing in the summer. Come autumn, you can take scenic drives through the region to admire the gorgeous foliage for which Maine is known. Things to Know Check-in time: 4:00 p.m. Check-out time: 10:00 a.m. All guests shall abide by the good neighbor policy and shall not engage in illegal activity. Quiet hours are from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m. No smoking is permitted anywhere on the premises. Guest access You'll enter using a keypad code provided in your confirmation. Enter the code - a green light will flash when it's accepted. Rotate the deadbolt underneath the keypad away from the door frame to unlock it, then open the door. When you leave, press the Schlage button on the keypad and rotate the deadbolt back toward the door frame to engage it - the door does not lock automatically, so please lock it when you depart. Check-in is at 4pm and check-out is at 10am. If an early check-in or late checkout is available, you'll receive an email or text offering it. The home's main entrance is on the left side once you've parked. Important: due to past flooding, the water is turned off between guests. If you arrive and the water is off, go to the basement's left-side corner by the washer and dryer and turn on both red handles - they should be parallel to the pipes. Other things to note The home features air conditioning in the main floor living area, controlled by remote. There's a wood-burning fireplace in the living room and a fire pit outside (seasonal, May through October, weather permitting) - extra wood is stored in the shed. Outdoor furniture and a gas grill are available May through September. You'll have one TV in the living room and one in the second floor bedroom. Linens, bedding, and towel sets are provided, with backups located in the unit. Complimentary start-up amenities include toilet paper, paper towels, shampoo, conditioner, trash bags, dishwasher pods, sponge, dish soap, laundry soap, and hand soap - please plan to pick up additional supplies as needed during your stay. Please bring insect repellent: Maine's natural environment includes mosquitoes, black flies, ticks, sand fleas, spiders, ants, no-see-ums, and other seasonal insects. The home has monthly pest control to minimize their presence, but they are a natural part of the area.
