The Fire Room at Spacious Historic Horton House
Description
Our goal: to offer the gracious hospitality we envision Mary and Henry Horton had in mind when they built their home in 1869. Don’t hesitate to let us know how we can get closer to that goal for you! The Fire Room offers a private bedroom with en suite bathroom and use of common guest areas, including a pantry / kitchenette, dining room, living room, and wrap-around porch. Spacious interiors, large windows, and ample grounds are ideal for staying or working at home. The space The Horton House was built in 1869 for Mary and Henry Horton. We are fortunate so many of its original details remain as has the spirit of its gracious history. The grand porch, spacious interior, and grounds continue to invite a sense of the peaceful comfort of its beginnings infused with the energy of Providence's diverse Elmwood and nearby South Providence Neighborhoods of today. The guest area of the Horton House is located in what would have been the Horton's family / entertaining part of the house. This area has our four guest rooms, a living room, dining room, and kitchenette. My family lives in a separate area of the house off of what was undoubtedly the servants' stairs. Each guest room is inspired by one of the magical elements -- Earth, Air, Fire, and Water. The Fire Room is located on the second floor along with the Water and Air Rooms, with the Earth Room located on the first floor. Every room has one designated parking spot on the property, with additional on-street parking available, as needed. Located on a corner, the double-lot provides ample grounds for outdoor use. If you are traveling with an infant or toddler, we have a travel pack and play and a twin-sized foam mattress available. Please note that if you are traveling with a child, we can adjust your reservation to increase the guest count to 3 at no additional cost. My daughters LOVE when we are hosting a family with children (me, too!). Guest access With your booking, you will have your own dedicated bedroom featuring a queen-sized bed and en suite, private bathroom. Indoor areas shared by guests include the pantry with limited self-cooking appliances, dining room, living room, and a half-bath. On the wrap-round porch, we have various dining and seating options, and the ample yard provides possibilities for outdoor activities. Each guest room is allocated one parking space in our on-property gravel parking area. Street parking is also available if additional spaces are needed. During your stay While we continuously enhance what is readily available to guests (you'll find details in the House Manual on-line and in your room ), we know there are times when something will come to mind that you need or that will enhance your stay that is not at your finger tips. That's why we are here. Please ask. Advance notice is appreciated whenever possible given the joys (and demands) of work and family life. Thank you! Other things to note LET US BE YOUR JULIE Okay, we're dating ourselves, but, feel free to engage our inner-Julie (cruise director from the Love Boat -- TV show circa 1980). Happy to be local guides. We put some information in our Guidebook (with AirBNB and also in your rooms). Additionally, we have some books about local history, a daily subscription to the Providence Journal, and a selection of some of our local magazines that provide local flavor and event listings. Looking to stay home? We have non-electronic indoor and outdoor options, including books, board games, a basketball hoop, and lawn games. Registration Details RE.00529-STR, expiry date: 2025-10-23
