Welcome to our Newport lake cottage, a warm and peaceful escape directly on beautiful international Lake Memphremagog and very near the Canadian border. Admire the million dollar views from indoors and out, sit around the campfire (firewood provided!), birdwatch, ski Jay Peak (30 minutes), hike and bike, ice fish, play games, watch the smart tv by the propane heat stove, explore Quebec’s Eastern Townships that are less than an hour away. This is a great place to both work and play. This is 1 unit in a 2 unit home and the second unit is unoccupied so you’ll have the place to yourselves. We have a small and dated but fully equipped kitchen (no dishwasher however), beautiful wood floors, spacious living/dining room with cathedral ceiling and skylights, super comfortable king size bed, high speed internet, everything you need for a fun and relaxing, productive getaway. PLEASE NOTE the full bathroom is part of the primary suite therefore guests sleeping in the twin bedroom will need to access the bathroom by entering the primary bedroom. While this space can accommodate 4 people it is best suited to 2 or 3 given the bathroom situation and the small size of the twin bedroom. 1 well-behaved pet is welcome WITH PRIOR APPROVAL. If bringing a pet please also bring sheets/blankets to protect furniture. A second pet is negotiable and may incur an additional charge. PLEASE NOTE: this is a quiet family neighborhood so please no parties or loud events. We have a hilly driveway so DURING WINTER MONTHS A SNOW/ICE WORTHY VEHICLE IS A MUST. We have reliable high speed WiFi. We offer a locked storage shed for bikes, skis, etc. In the fall you may occasionally hear distant gunfire from Province Island (the closest island to the cottage) as pheasant hunting occurs there. Registering guest must be at least 22 years old. Only the number of guests on the reservation may stay overnight ( max. 4) We live in another part of Vermont and will be available by phone. During winter months we provide a shovel and sand for your use during your stay to maintain walkways. The driveway is plowed and sanded as needed. A car that is good in snow/ice is mandatory during winter months. Please no smoking indoors. By booking the cottage you agree to the house rules. Unfortunately we are unable to allow EV charging at the cottage due to the unsuitable grounds and infrastructure. We hope to be able to offer this amenity in the future. A charging station is located a few miles away in downtown Newport at 15 Main Street.
