The Hinton House

Welcome to our cozy apartment located on the garden level of an updated farmhouse in Dayton, VA near local universities BC, EMU, JMU and Downtown Harrisonburg all less than 10 miles away. Only 7 miles from Sentara RMH. Perfect for visiting colleges and traveling nurses. Nestled in the Shenandoah Valley with scenic views, we are near great hiking and biking locations such as George Washington National Forrest, Shenandoah National Park, & Skyline Drive. We look forward to hosting you!! The space The Hinton House is entirely separate from the main house. It is equipped with a comfortable Serta queen mattress, Broyhill sofas, full kitchen with stainless steel appliances, full bathroom, high-speed Internet and a smart TV perfect for singles, couples, and business travelers seeking short or extended stays. We live at this property. Please note - we have kids. This apartment is located on the first floor so you may hear footsteps or pawsteps and occasional noise as we do live upstairs. We welcome long term stays and will provide clean sheets, towels and blankets each week! We have a hen house on the edge of our property. We live in the country. Literally - there are cows across the street and you may experience horse and buggy or tractor “traffic” on certain days of the week. It’s all just part of the charm of staying at the Hinton House. Guest access For ease and security, the Hinton House utilizes an electronic code system for access, eliminating the need for a physical key. Upon booking your stay, you will be provided with a unique code that grants you exclusive access to the apartment. The apartment is fully equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay, including a kitchen, bathroom, and amenities for relaxation. Please note that there is a conjoining door to the main house, it will be locked and it's only used to access hosts' section of the house! Other things to note We have a friendly 4-year-old chocolate Labrador Retriever named Kimber, who can be a bit clumsy at times. She may bark when she first meets you, but she is very friendly and sociable. You are welcome to interact with her and say hello, or simply continue on your way. She will often wag her tail and may even try to get you to pet her or scratch her ears. Kimber has an electric fence and enjoys spending time outdoors, she loves to sit on Adirondack chairs. There are tennis balls and dog treats provided for you to play with her if you would like to during your stay. She is not particularly skilled at fetching, so it's recommended to use two tennis balls if you wish to play with her.
