This Clifton Guest and Fishing Lodge was originally built in 1914 by well know architect, Sam Matthews, and has been extensively renovated by renowned interior decorator, Diane Davant, who lived in the home from 1997 through 2017. In 2018, in order to save the home from being demolished in connection with a proposed luxury condominium development, the owners of the Old Colorado Inn relocated the historic structure to the Old Colorado Inn property via barge along the St. Lucie River and performed additional renovations to the home. In the early 1950's Ralph Evinrude (Chairman of the Outboard Marine Corporation) stayed at the Clifton Guest and Fishing Lodge while he was courting the famous movie star, Frances Langford. Evinrude eventually married Langford and the the couple settled down in nearby Jensen Beach and have had a lasting impact on the Treasure Coast due to their generous philanthropic legacy.
