Our family's cabin is a two story modified A-frame with a large deck in a quiet, wooded, residential neighborhood of Twain Harte. Knotty pine ceilings and walls and simple, modern rustic decor throughout make it a relaxing place to stay. The space The Thompson Lodge has been in our family for fifty years and we hope you'll enjoy staying here as much as we do. The cabin can sleep up to 4 guests (kids 2+ are included in this max headcount). The cabin has one bedroom (with queen sized bed) and bathroom downstairs. Upstairs features a large loft (with king bed and TV), second bedroom with partial wall (with two twin sized beds), and second bathroom. There is a small deck off the upstairs rooms. The house has puzzles and board games. Enjoy the great views of the woods from every window! Sometimes, from the deck you can watch deer walk through the yard on their way to and from the creek at the bottom of the property. There's a lot to do nearby! We are a 5 minute drive to downtown Twain Harte, a 20 minute drive away from downtown Sonora, 25 minutes away from Black Oak Casino, 30 minutes away from Pinecrest Lake & Dodge Ridge Ski Resort, 30 minutes away from the town of Murphys, and 90 minutes away from Yosemite National Park. We have access to two private lakes (Upper and Lower Crystal Falls Lakes) however, they may not be open at the time of your visit. Please message me for updated lake access info. Guest access Guests have access to entire cabin as well as two small, private lakes that are just a short drive away (Upper Crystal Falls and Lower Crystal Falls Lakes). If you need to do laundry, guests are welcome to use the washer and dryer which are located in the basement. Our property is not fenced in, but please respect our neighbors' yards. Firewood is not usually provided; please do not burn wet wood. Other things to note NO FIRES OUTSIDE ALLOWED. Do not light a bonfire or campfire on the property. No smoking is allowed. Guests may only use the propane grill for cooking outdoors. Fires in the fireplace are allowed (please do not run the AC if the fireplace is in use). We do not provide firewood. Bundles may be purchased at 7-11 or Twain Harte Market. Please do not burn wet wood, it will fill the cabin with smoke. WINTER AT THE CABIN: Please be prepared for potentially dangerous road conditions, lots of snow or rain, cold temperatures, and the potential for power outages to occur. When the power goes out, this means the only source of heat is the wood stove. Please check road conditions and weather prior to your trip and plan accordingly. You may need chains and/or 4wd. Bring your cozy slippers too! It gets really dark out here at night, so bring a flashlight! Bedding and bath towels are provided. Beach towels are not provided. Board games and puzzles are located in the upstairs bedroom. Extra chairs and umbrellas for the deck are located in the basement. Wi-Fi password will be made available upon check in. Please note that our cabin runs on electricity and power outages do happen, especially due to falling trees in bad weather. We want to set expectations by telling our guests this up front, not to startle you! We hope to install a generator in the near future.
