The Cottage rests over the end of Penobscot River as it opens into the Bay. The Cottage will comfortably accommodate two. The Cottage has a spacious bedroom, full kitchen, dining area, den and an all season porch with rockers. From Cottage there are views of the water and the lavender gardens. The gardens are terraced with a path down to the sea. The Carriage House Suite is available for an additional fee. it has has two bedrooms, a full bath and a sitting area. It can easily sleep four. The space The Cottage will comfortably accommodate two for sleeping. The rooms are airy and spacious enough for group dining and relaxing. A larger group will require the Carriage House Suite. The additional space is two bedrooms, sitting area and a full bath. The Carriage House Suite is accessed by the same driveway as the Cottage. Eight miles away is Bucksport, a mill-town that is entering a new and exciting era. Enjoy some of the restaurants in Bucksport. Warren's on the Waterfront serves comfort food and hearty breakfasts. There is Crumpets, for light simple, but great foods. Wednesday evening is music nights beginning at 5:30. Tucked away you will find a great bistro, Verona Wine and Bistro run Kelly. She is a great host with excellent food, music many summer nights and wine tastings. Natives and tourists gather around Wahl's Dairy Port. They serve hard and soft ice cream, with many renditions. As you head out of Bucksport stop at Carrier's Mainely Lobster for steamed lobsters and clams, fried seafood and sandwiches. - BJ will treat you right! Acadia National Park is only 35 miles from the Cottage... and if you desire the hustle and bustle of a touristy destination - Bar Harbor is mere minutes from Acadia Park. A great day trip. Nearby towns to visit include Blue Hill, Belfast and Castine. Blue Hill, a small art community, offers unique shopping and wonderful hiking. This is one of my favorite places. Belfast is a unique coastal town. There are some fun places for shopping and walking. Take a peak in at the hardware store...there is truly something for everyone. Castine wakes up during the summer and should be explored. The Maine Maritime Academy is here. Guest access At the Cottage guests will enjoy a full home with many amenities. The Carriage House Suite is available for an additional fee dependent on the number of guests. Guests have exclusive use of these areas. Feel comfortable to explore the lavender gardens, gazebo and the shore. There is a grill for guest at the Cottage. If you should desire to have you own seafood boil - there is a kettle and outside burner for this. Arrangements may be made to purchase lobsters and clams from a local lobster man. Check in with him for a downeast experience in his lobster boat! Other things to note Nights are usually cool around the Cottage, be sure to bring a sweater! In case you forget some "need it now" items there is a small plastic box at both the Cottage and the Carriage House.
