Blueberry lodge was built as a family vacation home suited to social gatherings. The lodge is 4200 square feet, with four large bedrooms with en suite full baths on the ground floor and a 2100 square foot open great room on the second floor. Blueberry Lodge was designed by renowned architect Piet Van Dijk who is known for creating homes with living space that is open and conducive to entertaining and social gathering. The great room on the second floor has multiple living spaces that integrate well together, a cathedral ceiling and lots of light in part due to a large multi windowed monitor on the roof. The sleeping floor is the ground floor where there are four large bedrooms all with full baths and a large laundry room. The ground floor has in floor heating which works very well in colder months. There are two wood burning Franklin stoves in the great room which both supplement the central heating and create a cozy ambience. Guests have access to the full house. There is plenty of closet storage. Interaction will be very limited. One family member lives next door but is in residence only during weekends. Ames Hill is a beautiful rural main road with spectacular views. Blueberry Lodge is at the apex of the hill, 8 miles from Brattleboro and 23 miles from Mount Snow. In the summer Marlboro College holds the music festival and in the winter Blueberry Lodge is well situated for southern Vermont skiing while being quickly accessible to Interstate 91 and Brattleboro. You will need a car! Marlboro is a country town. Total house except the basement Blueberry Lodge is located at the top of Ames Hill in a beautiful pine forest setting. Guests frequently ask for hiking options but frankly the dirt roads are lightly traveled and there are stunning views in all directions so the best trails are the roads! Blueberry Lodge is at the top of a small mountain at 1,800 feet so in snowy/icy weather, front wheel/all wheel drive and snow tires are strongly recommended.
