Attractive townhome built in 2007 and close to Gurnee Mills Outlet, Six Flags, Great Lakes Naval base. My listing is spacious (~500 sq ft) and nicely appointed and complements the rest of the home, which has an open kitchen, living room, cathedral ceiling entry. NOTE: A half-bath & full bath are UPSTAIRS. No baño (toilet/sink/shower) located in the bsmt. I keep dog in garage when I’m not home. My animal & daughter are with me when I’m home. Guests—excluding unsupervised minors—are permitted use of stove or ovens. Long-term guests will be given space in the fridge, freezer and pantry and will be expected to buy their own food, spices, etc. Cutting board is a MUST for any cutting or slicing, and counter is expressly prohibited as a cutting surface. Guests are expected to remain in kitchen during while cooking—stovetop, oven or microwave, and clean up and put away items used. One load of laundry is permitted at no charge per reservation of six (6) days. Supplies are not provided. Guests staying longer than one (1) week who wish to use the washer and dryer will need to buy their own laundry supplies. More than one load per week can be discussed for an additional cost. Gurnee Mills, a humongous indoor mall, is ~2-3 mile away, as is Aria, a very nice hookah lounge; Shooters, a fantabulous billiards hall/bar; and I’ve hosted many a guest who’ve loved the proximity (a 20-minute drive, 9 mi) to Great Lakes Naval Base. I am always a text message or phone call away and will almost always pick up promptly. If I’m home, happy to talk. Exceptions include in a meeting at work, etc. I want your stay to be the most laid-back, enjoyable, and easy-going it can be. Let me know of any special requests to make my home feel like your home! A quiet, suburban rural neighborhood that has just about everything you could need, within a mile radius. Kenosha and Milwaukee are within an hour drive (15 and 45 minutes, respectively). Chicago downtown (when traffic is good) by car is about 45 minutes, but there are public transportation options. A few close Metra train stations include ones in Grayslake, Libertyville and Waukegan. A decent assortment of restaurants abound: Barbecue Productions in Grayslake on Route 45 is a personal favorite, although a new BBQ place, Dickey's, opened late 2016 a half mile from my place off Grand Avenue in the Mariano's-anchored strip mall that also includes Einstein's Bagels, a pasta place, Japanese sushi restaurant, and Potbelly's Sandwich & Shakes joint. With my two listings, a maximum of two vehicles can be parked on-site during non-winter months, generally from March through November. During the winter months, typically one on-site spot is available at no cost though a second on-site parking spot could become available at no cost to the guest, or a surcharge of $5 per night. My home is about one-quarter mile from a bus stop. Bus fare as of January 2021 is $2.25. The PACE bus route connects to the regional Metra commuter train in Waukegan and elsewhere. Approximate travel time is roughly 20 minutes. Once at the Metra commuter train station, it costs about $6 per adult to travel to downtown Chicago. Driving from Gurnee to Chicago takes around 45 min depending on traffic conditions. Parking in a garage downtown might cost you $40 or you could park for $5 at the Metra commuter train station, or at the Howard Street elevated train ("the El" for short) situated at the border between Evanston and Chicago, and take the train the rest of the way into the city. Lake County has hundreds of miles of preserved woodlands and bike and hiking trails. Infrastructure into and out of Chicago is so-so. From pretty frustrating if you're driving on a weekend night, to easy-breezy during off-hours or taking the Metra train during non-rush hours. My place is located in a nice mix of mostly rural with almost all the amenities you could find in the big city, just a lot less noise and traffic.
