Historic Rousby Hall, Waterfront, Patuxent River
Rousby Hall is located on the Patuxent River, outside of Solomons Island with a view of the river's opening to the Chesapeake Bay. The 16-acre property is adjacent to our very private conservation area that borders our 300-foot private beach. The year-round property has a pier, and in-ground pool (May-October) with amazing river views. Rousby Hall of Calvert County is a historic home that has been beautifully maintained and updated over the decades for modern conveniences. The eat-in kitchen seats 6-8 and there is a large picnic table poolside including Weber gas and charcoal grills and a fire pit. This is an all-year-round property, very private, with fabulous bird watching, fishing off the pier, playing in the sand on the private beach, bonfires and grilling, boat watching, kayaks for four, beautiful sunsets on the Patuxent River and nearby hiking at Calvert Cliffs. One of the bedrooms is on the main floor, the other three are reached by stairs. This is a dedicated AirBnB run by a Superhost; spacious, free of clutter and other people's knick-knacks, more like an upscale, country, inn. There is an office with a desk, printer, office chair and Starlink internet. The pool is open May through October and heated when outdoor temps drop in September/October. The pool has an electric pool cover that is kept closed during the off-season, when heated, or when guests want it closed for safety reasons during pool season. At Rousby Hall, we do not use on grass, plants, gravel, or any glyphosate-based herbicide products on the property. The barn/garage houses the owner's lawn equipment and studio and will have full access at any time to remove and use the equipment. Renters will be allowed to store bikes/toys in the garage. The owners also keep a boat on the Rousby Hall pier boat lift and maintain two crab pots and have access to it at all times. Guests are not to board the boat or operate the lift. The owners also own a beehive and will access property for maintenance. The beehive is located far away from the home and will not impact guests. Owners will also service the pool, clean skimmers, etc weekly. We own the home next door to the property and value privacy. We may not be there the entire time as we do go back to DC & MoCo for work but always a phone call away for any help needed. We crab off our piers and fish for rockfish all season long and will sell to interested guests. There is a pier with a ~8/9' draft. If you choose to come by boat, you will be able to dock or moor. There are 4 kayaks and vests for use. An abundance of wildlife as six acres of the property is a conservation area; deer at night, roaming geese, groundhogs, bald eagles and lots of birds. The John Rousby grave is also located on the property. The Naval Air Station Patuxent River located across the river in St. Mary's county does conduct periodic day and night time testing.
