McConnells Mill, Portersville Cabin on Creek

Cozy log home hidden in the seven wooded acres along Slippery Rock Creek right next to McConnells Mill State Park and near Portersville PA . The space Very quiet and peaceful setting with only the sounds of nature and the ever-present babbling of the water below. You have the option of being outside in rain or shine with the screened in porch or elevated outdoor deck. The great room features a large stone fireplace with a very realistic gaslit logs for ease-of-use. Attractive walkways among the flora and fawna, enclosed & screened 10' x 23' porch plus a 15' x 20' deck with view of the water. The cabin has a paved drive, parking area and 2 stall garage at the bottom and parking for 2-3 cars. Take caution it is a steep and curving driveway. Be carful how you park your vehicles. Limited space is available to jocky vehicles around at the bottom. Additional parking is available at the top of the driveway for trucks and large vehicles. It is enough space to park a boat trailer without having to unhook it from the vehicle. Also a good place for guests to park if they do not mind the scenic long & steep walk down the driveway The creek is great for fly fishing and kayaking. A pavilion is located right on the riverbank along with picnic table, camp chairs and a fire ring. Take care going down it is a rustic steep stairway. There is a railing and steps but be careful. Not recommend for the elderly or small unattended children When the water is low it is refreshing and fun to wade into the cool rock bottom water. Swimming is fun if the water conditions are right. When the water is high beware the current can be quite strong and dangerous. The bottom is rock and you can walk on it but I would recommend using footwear of some sort. The rocks are slippery and hard to walk on barefoot. I just use an old pair of shoes. Property adjoins the Park. McConnell Mill State Park offers beautiful hiking trails, Fishing, Rock climbing and other outdoor activities. Search the internet about McConnell’s Mills State Park . IMPORTANT NOTE: You will find a small dirt road that shoots off the driveway about halfway down. This is access to a fishing cabin further down the river. Please do not use this for parking or exploring. It leads off the property and I do not want to disturb the privacy of the nice folks that own the fishing cabin.
