The main draw is the sprawling Sunday River Ski resort with 8 peaks and 4 base areas all connected with some of the most efficient chair lifts in the country. The skiing is some of the best in the east as Sunday River Resort is know for its exceptional snowmaking and awesome annual natural snow totals. Bethel Village is the main hub of the area where you will find all amenities such as restaurants, brewery's, bowling alley, groceries, gas stations, and yes, a Dunkin Donuts. Bethel is also home to the Bethel Inn Country Club, the 2nd of two great 18 hole golf courses in the area, the first being award winning Sunday River Gold Club. In the summer & fall, folks enjoy a number of out door activities. The area is well known for great hiking, the Appalachian Trail even meanders through the Mahoosuc Mountains in just 20 minutes north in Grafton Notch State Park. In the park you will also find waterfalls, caves, and unique short walks or full day hikes. Mountain biking has grown exponentially in the area in the last 4 years including the awesome lift service trails at MT Abram Bike Park. For those looking for more of a workout there are plenty of miles of single track in the Bethel area. Looking to cool off in the summer? There are many opportunities to get wet. From swimming holes in the Sunday River to floating down the Androscoggin River, theres plenty of ways to enjoy the water. Kayaking and paddle boarding are also popular activities in one of the many local ponds. A vehicle is recommended. In the winter months it is recommended to have snow tires and/or 4x4.
