Tucked away on historic Donner Summit, this cozy cabin home is the perfect place to relax and rejuvenate after a day of mountain activity or for working remote. Just off of I-80, 5 minutes down the road from Sugar Bowl and a Pacific Crest Trail trailhead, and a 15-minute drive to Truckee. Relax on the comfy couch by the fire, or in the newly remodeled living room or spacious second-story loft. New expansive deck for entertaining and enjoyment. Clean, well-equipped kitchen as well. This place is our mountain sanctuary. We think you'll find it can also be yours during your stay. We've arranged the interior space with thought, care, and charm. The location allows you to enjoy all the North Lake Tahoe area has to offer, all year round. Next door to Sugar Bowl, Soda Springs, Donner Ski Ranch, and Boreal skiing, not to mention Royal Gorge, the largest cross-country ski resort in North America. A reasonable drive to Squaw/Alpine and North Star. When the weather is warm, you might want to go rock climbing, take a run around Donner Lake, or explore the world-class trails by foot or mountain bike. You'll have access to both floors of the cabin. You'll enter through the front door into the kitchen, which is stocked with a French press, coffee grinder, toaster, and cooking/baking pans. The kitchen opens to the living room, with a sectional couch and the wood stove fireplace. A drafting table is available for meals or as a nice workspace. There is one bathroom with shower on the first floor. The first floor bedroom has a queen bed with memory foam mattress and a desk with monitor. Up the stairs is a spacious loft space with a desk (also with monitor), futon, and French doors that lead to the second sleeping area with a full-sized bed. Washer and dryer is available in the basement. Parking available in our driveway. This is usually our full-time residence but we make our entire cabin home available for guests while we travel. We may be able to meet you in person upon check-in if the timing works out. Otherwise, we are available for questions via messaging on Airbnb, phone, or text message. Soda Springs is a quiet, peaceful community of fewer than 100 full-time residents. We enjoy that it feels separate from the rest of the busy world, but we don't feel like we're in the middle of nowhere, either. The general store in Soda Springs has all your basics. We highly recommend taking a vehicle with either four-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, or putting chains on your tires. While we do have plow service that will clear our driveway in the event it snows at least six inches, our driveway has a couple of steep inclines that can be difficult to ascend without a car equipped with either 4WD / AWD or chains. Just a note for light sleepers: While our house and neighborhood is generally very quiet, we are located close to train tracks and a train crossing, so you may hear the train and its horn as it passes by.
