Description
Landers Cove is an original homesteader cabin built in 1961 and expanded on in later years. It sits on 5 beautiful acres which you can explore during your visit. It is located within minutes of The Integratron, Landers Brew Company, Giant Rock, Gubler Orchid Farm and La Copine. With a short 20-minute drive to downtown Joshua Tree and the west entrance of the national park, or Pappy and Harriet’s....this home offers the perfect combination of relaxation, creativity and proximity. The space We designed our 850 square foot homestead cabin as a retreat for the two of us from our busy life of going to work and raising children. We turned our cabin into a quiet respite where we can relax, stargaze, listen to LP’s, watch an old western by the wood burning stove, cook a beautiful meal, sip Tequila/coffee on the patio, enjoy the outdoor fire pit, wind down in the outdoor bathtub/shower, or just hang out and admire all the beautiful, custom wood and tile work. We find it very hard to leave our cabin and we hope that you will feel the same way. But if you do want to leave our cabin to enjoy all that the high desert has to offer, Landers Cove is about a 20 minute drive to downtown Joshua Tree (fun shops, restaurants & bars) and the Joshua Tree National Park Visitors Center at the west entrance of the park. The property is five minutes from the Integratron, the iconic High Desert destination built in the 1950s for rejuvenation and time travel and which today is best known for its “sound baths.” Also nearby is famed Gubler Orchids, Landers Brew Company and La Copine, one of the High Desert’s most acclaimed restaurants. If you love to listen to live music, then head on over to Pioneertown (25 min drive) and visit the Old West movie set before dinner and drinks at the famous music venue, Pappy & Harriet's. The large, open concept living space has six large windows, a Mexican tiled modern kitchen, cozy dining space, living room with a console TV and turntable, and a day bed in the wood stove viewing area. The TV gets local channels via the antenna and a DVD player set up with some movies for your enjoyment. We also have a turntable and Klipsch speakers to enjoy our select LPs. The turntable is very easy, just push start to play and stop to finish. The speakers have a switch behind the right speaker to turn on and off. (There is no receiver, turntable plugs directly into the powered speakers.) The remote controls volume and source input. All we ask is that you respect the neighbors and keep the volume at a reasonable level, especially after 9pm (sound really carries far in the desert). There is one bedroom with a queen bed with it’s own private bathroom that has a gorgeous Mexican tiled shower with a stunning view looking out into the desert. But if you would prefer to be completely outdoors for your bathing and showering needs, breath in the desert air using our private outdoor tub and shower! There is a second bathroom with more stunning Mexican tile with custom wood work and mirror. We have a beautiful covered patio to enjoy a cup of coffee (on us!) and view the spectacular sunrises or relax by the fire pit on the west side of the house at sunset and into the evening for a beautiful starry night. For those warm desert days, there is a very strong swamp cooler that keeps the house cool along with a window unit type air conditioner in the bedroom. Landers Cove is in the high desert and there is usually a breeze, so it's surprisingly not that bad in the summer. For when the weather cools down, we have a wall heater and a gorgeous red, wood burning stove for those cool nights, plus the bedroom has a heater in the AC unit as well as a portable heater (stored) if you need it really toasty. Guest access The whole home and 5 acres is yours Other things to note Klipsch Speakers...please use the remote for volume and source input. Please put the used towels and linens in the washer upon leaving. Registration Details CESTRP-2020-01211
