Guesthouse in Stonington
Description
A Historic Artist’s Retreat Near Downtown Mystic Lovingly known as The Dacha for nearly 80 years, this one-of-a-kind gem was built in 1945 as a studio for the artist who once called the property home. Fully insulated for cozy winter stays, the unique structure is tucked away on a peaceful piece of land, just five minutes from downtown Mystic. The space Blending historic charm with modern comforts, The Dacha offers designer décor, a welcoming fireplace, and serene surroundings. Whether you’re relaxing by the fire, exploring nearby hiking trails, or enjoying Mystic’s vibrant shops, waterfront, and restaurants, this retreat is the perfect balance of tranquility and convenience. Guest access Guests have full access to the Dacha or Guesthouse. There is a fire pit, they are welcome to enjoy. There is also a large patio and outdoor dining table they can use. Outdoor spaces are shared with the host and family, who live next door in the white farmhouse. Privacy for our guests is highly regarded. We'll give a wave if we see you! Other things to note The dacha has its own circular driveway and parking spot in front of the house. The kitchen is quaint, and has two burners, a dishwasher, refrigerator, toaster, coffee maker, and toaster oven, and small microwave. There is no full sized oven. Guests are required to walk up stairs to access the bedroom. The bathroom is also located on the second floor loft, along with the washer and dryer. The fireplace inside the Dacha is propane and hooked up to a thermostat. It will automatically turn on and off to keep temp consistent. The Dacha is fully insulated, with a technique that allowed the architect to maintain its original interior beams. It stays very warm through winter. We do have chickens and a rooster on property. The rooster will start the day off crowing. We’ve taken several measures to dampen the sound, including sound blankets in the coop, providing a noise machine and ear plugs. The birds also free range when the weather allows.
