Waterfront Cottage with Private Dock and Kayaks

Check out the new furniture as we update and improve! Wake to the call of osprey and sip your morning brew as the sun rises over the creek. Go chicken-necking for crabs or explore the creek on one of two kayaks. With 4 spacious bedrooms, you can bring the entire family.. Enjoy meals and relax on the huge screened porch overlooking the water. Read books from our stocked shelves, play board games or cards, put together puzzles. Or write that story you've been putting off. Have fun! The space Enhanced Cleaning and Disinfection In Place! On our private dock, you can toss a small net, put out a crab pot, or dangle a chicken neck and haul in the catch. On a high tide, you can take your small boat all the way from our dock to Cape Lookout. You can also paddle one of our kayaks and explore the upper creek. If you don't have a boat, we're only minutes from Harkers Island and a ferry to the cape. Who knows? You might see one of the big turtles in Turtle Bay or a pod of dolphins cavorting in the sound. This is one of the most gorgeous places on the North Carolina coast. Out fishing all day? There is a fish-cleaning station out the back door and a charcoal grill so you can cook what you catch and then carry it to the screened porch to watch the sunset as you eat. No luck on the water catching dinner? Well, we're 10 minutes from Harkers Island and 20 from Beaufort, where dining choices are abundant. Sleepy Creek Cottage is kid friendly (there's a swingset and playhouse). We're also a smoke free facility. We have an outdoor shower for use after a day at the beach or out on the water. Board games, WiFi, books, and a huge back and front yard are also available. The entire home, including the dock, is available for use during your stay. The house has a wide wooden ramp in front, outside as well as inside stairs to the second floor, and a large downstairs bedroom, as well as three bedrooms upstairs. And there's a covered carport for unloading in the rain. You won't be able to swim off the dock, but there's a beach just across the Harker's Island Bridge, and there's swimming at Atlantic Beach. (Or, and in my opinion, the best clear water snorkeling is just a ferry ride away inside the Cape Lookout hook.) Guest access The entire house and yard, along with the dock, will be yours to enjoy. Kayaks are available upon request. The homeowners, who live on the large property, will be there to greet you and make sure you have everything you need to have a comfortable stay. We will exercise social distancing for your sake and ours. When you CHECK OUT, please leave the house unlocked and the key on the table. Also, please pull down the comforter on the beds that were slept in. Please do not remove the linens off the bed. Leave towels on the bathroom floors and not in the hardwood floor. Start the dishwasher. Thank you for your help with this. We hope you enjoy your stay. Other things to note Guests must adhere to all water safety requirements. Oyster shells are found everywhere in Sleepy Creek, and, therefore, wading shoes should be worn even while kayaking. It's a great place to stay and to play, but waterfront is waterfront, and everyone needs to be careful--inside and out--especially if you bring children. If you bring more guests than those on your reservation, we will have to charge you an extra guest fee for each, even if the number of guests does not exceed the allotted six. If you need to change your reservation number at any time prior to your arrival, we will waive this extra charge if you get in touch with us first.
