Situated at the end of a dirt road on 2 private acres, the cottage is divided into 2 studio units each with its own entrance. The cottage shares the yard with a main house where your hosts live. Surrounded by tall trees & wild plants, there is a large yard with plantings, an arbor, tables & chairs, & a fire pit. 4 mins from Pebble Beach & Pt. St. George, 15 mins to Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park. Hear the ocean, but less wind! Divided into 2 studio units, each with an Oregon Mattress Company all natural queen bed, you'll sleep well. The sofa downstairs has a 1" memory foam pad to spread across the sofa and ottoman and is as wide as a Queen, but longer than a king bed! The upstairs pull out sofa has a 3" memory foam mattress. All cotton linens and a variety of pillows ensure your comfort. The upstairs unit is not suitable for children since it has an open stairwell. The lower unit has a portable crib and high chair in the closet under the stairs. The upper and lower bathrooms include stand up showers, a storage shelving unit, towel warmer and on demand hot water heater so you can enjoy an extra long shower! The efficient kitchenettes (no range) include a fridge, microwave, toaster oven, electric burner, electric kettle, blender, and electric grill. Guests also have access to an outdoor propane grill in the shared garage space. There is plenty of storage for your gear including a closet space with hangers. Unwind at the end of the day with the large TV with satellite in each unit. Feel free to wander over our 2.15 acres, but be aware that all outdoor spaces are shared with the main house (owners' home). There is a swing under the large tree on the guest house side of the property. There is a fire pit, outdoor tables and chairs and propane grill for guest use. A small herb garden is available for guest use inside the Unit A fenced area. A large part of the property is heavily wooded and there are many game trails so be aware that you may come across some wildlife. We know there are bears, since one tried to drag our smoker away! There is a small seasonal pond behind the main house. In the Fall and Winter search for mushrooms- we have over 20 varieties growing on the property. Please note that there are several gates on the property. Guests are welcome to open any gate, but please close it immediately behind you. The main house is our primary residence so we ask that you respect our privacy as we will yours. However, if you have a need or a question, a knock on the door is appropriate. Parking spaces for one car per unit are designated, but there is plenty of room to park additional vehicles at the end of the street. Unit A, the main floor unit, is accessed through the wood gate to the right of the driveway. Follow the brick path around to the porch and front door. Unit B, the upstairs unit is accessed by a private entrance through the arbor and gate to the left of the driveway. Each unit has a lockable door into the garage space. Please keep your door locked for maximum privacy and security. The garage door may be opened to remove and use the shared grill and other outdoor equipment such as the horseshoe, corn hole, or croquet sets or beach equipment. We enjoy talking with our guests but we like our privacy and we'll respect yours. Feel free to approach us if we're outside. We'll wave if we're in sight, but we won't approach you unless there's a need. You can always reach us on the Airbnb message platform, by text or phone or in an emergency, knock on our door. We love that we can be at the beach in a couple of minutes, in old growth redwoods within 15 minutes or just stay home and feel like we're in our own little world. The natural beauty is unsurpassed and the pace of life here is relaxing. Car is the best way to travel, but there is local public transit around the county. It's a 20 minute walk from our house to Pebble Beach. Our property uses a propane fired tankless water heater. Once it's warm, it'll stay warm. However, it takes about a minute and a half to get hot. Don't worry about running the water, we are on a well in the wettest part of CA. We won't run out. To get hot water in the kitchen downstairs, pull the handle toward you. For cold, push away from yourself. In the upstairs sink, push the left handle back to get hot water and the right handle forward to get cold. Please conserve electricity by turning off lights and appliances as you finish with them. We do not have WiFi. If you depend on WiFi, please consider carefully before booking.
