Description

Voted #1 Place to Stay by Condé Nast Traveler (2022-2024) *Now with EV Charger!* Nestled among oak trees with stunning mountain views, this peaceful retreat features a natural rock swimming pool and a sauna. Close to town yet perfectly secluded, it blends nostalgic design with the beauty of nature. See you soon! The space The Story of Myron S. Whitson and the Artist’s Oasis In 1966, Myron S. Whitson, a skilled metalworker and artist, realized his vision of creating a mid-century retreat that blended art, nature, and simplicity. Nestled in the Sierra Nevada foothills, this home reflects his passion for authentic craftsmanship and timeless design. The home’s iconic features include a custom glass entry door that captures the light and the serene pool carved into the natural rock at the heart of the design. Floor-to-ceiling windows blur the line between indoors and outdoors, showcasing views of the Kaweah Valley and inviting natural light into every corner. This memorable space will transport you into a more simple time of life. Imagine tones of Frank Sinatra and John Muir, with a dash of Japanese minimalism. All of your comforts are top of mind, making this an ideal resting place following a thrilling day of adventure or to simply relax and unwind. Today, this unique retreat invites you to experience Myron’s legacy, where art, comfort, and nature converge. ~ Seasonal Bliss at the Artist’s Oasis ~ In the summer, dip beneath the water in your private pool while overlooking the canyon. At nighttime, stargaze in the swing chairs and sip something delicious. In the winter, cuddle up beside the fireplace and enjoy the calm, crisp mountain air. Unplug and recharge surrounded by nature. Guest access The ENTIRE house, pool, and yard - it is all yours to enjoy. We don't live on the property, and there are no other cabins or houses on the property. Insider Tip: Many of our guests who book for just 2 or 3 nights request to stay longer. Many times they make the extension request too late, so if you're on the fence about staying another night, it may be a good idea to go ahead and book now (if your dates are available:). Please note NO ANIMALS of any kind are allowed. The property is allergy-free due to owners' family being extremely allergic to animal hair and dander. Young (mobile) children age 1-5 are not recommended due the proximity of the unfenced pool. Please supervise children of all ages (1-17) very closely. Other things to note TRAVEL INSURANCE: During booking, be sure to select the optional Airbnb travel insurance. In the event that a travel disruption occurs (weather, illness, etc.), we ask that you are covered as we don't issue refunds outside of our cancellation policy. THE POOL: The pool provides a relaxing ambiance all year round. Save time to enjoy a perfect poolside sanctuary in summer and winter months while stargazing under a canopy of ancient oaks. Please note that the pool is not heated, shallow in sections, there is no lifeguard at the pool, and you can swim at your own risk. It is very comfortable for swimming July - early September. Be safe and enjoy the experience. THE PROPERTY: While the property is very private, it is located in a neighborhood. Please note that it is not fenced and is surrounded by open land. LOCATION: We are less than 5 minutes from the amenities in Three Rivers, so it will be easy to pick up your sandwiches, coffees, and snacks on the way up the mountain, or wherever your adventures take you. THE NAT'L PARKS: Sequoia Nat'l Park Ash Mountain entrance is 15 minutes away. We are only 55 minutes away from the Giant Forest and General Sherman Tree. Always be sure to check the park website for updates and closures. EXTRAS: Fresh linen & bath towels are provided. Coffee and tea will be at your disposal for breakfast. Please let us know if there is anything that we can do to make your stay most enjoyable.
