Welcome to the House of Joy & Balibu! My house is filled with "Early American Second Hand" treasures and art from around the world. Your spacious, sunny room has a private front porch entrance. Relax on your own "private" side porch on my corner lot, swing on the porch swing or strike out for the neighborhood amenities (5-10 min. walk) and downtown variety (10-20 min walk) or even explore the Oakwood Cemetery with miles of roads to jog on and see the graves of well known folks. The space My Covid Cleaning Protocol follows Airbnb requirements, with an additional feature of an Ionic air purifier, w/ HEPA filters, which I leave on for the 2 days of cleaning time between guests. Guests are welcome to use it during their stay, it functions as a white noise machine, as well. I also have replaced my handmade quilts with a cover that stands up to mutiple & frequent washings. I have had my 2 covid jabs, but since I am a person in a high risk covid , of I have a sm dog & your dog is welcome! Small enclosed back deck/yard, gated front porch and municipal dog park 1/2 mi away. Unfortunately, no cats due to an extreme allergy! Wheelchair access is by the ramp next to garage on Euclid St. (level parking also available there), It is my personal "front" door to the house. Guest access The front porch and back deck are always available at any time for guests use...sun angle determines where I sit when. Parking can be found in front of the house on N East St. or on Euclid St. adjacent to the house. During your stay I) I know my guests come to Raleigh for many reasons and am respectful of those reasons. That is not to say that I am averse to hanging out with guests who are as sociable as I...over wine or dogs, I have traveled internationally & nationally and love meeting people from all over the world. In these pandemic times, as a member of an 'at 'risk' group, I must ask that all in person interactions be with masks on! Guests with longer stays can use W/D & kitchen. Iron & fold down ironing board available in kitchen. I am a lover of our local theater groups and will be happy to share that information...and delighted to accompany those who share that interest. Music of the African American and Latino diaspora, as well as bluegrass music are all favorites. Museums are also favorite haunts and we have some good ones in Raleigh! During the summer there are also numerous outdoor film venues to explore. Will be happy to share info on the local places I frequesnt. Other things to note The shower/tub is bi-cultural - a standing person shower at one end and the "other end" controls were originally designed for the needs of a small woman, using a small manual chair. Bed height can be adjusted if needed, as well as furniture rearranged or removed (as I always do in hotels!) PLEASE notify me prior to your arrival what height yoh need to ! Should you need more room to toilet or different shower access, I can accommodate with my personal, lipless roll-in shower w/ stable bench and tall toilet down the hall.
