Welcome to Artists' Habitat, a site of quiet and relaxation. Our space is perfect for rest, rejuvenation and inspiration. We offer sun drenching, star watching, respite and reflection. This delightful suite is complete with kitchen, separate dining and living area and front porch. We look forward to your arrival. Our beautiful suite sits in a row of four guest rooms in an historic motor court, originally built in the early nineteen hundreds to house workers who constructed Elephant Butte Dam. It boasts lots of light with its vaulted ceiling over the kitchen and dining area. One step down, you enter into a cozy and serene space with bed on one side and living area on the other. Sit on your porch and watch birds cross the New Mexican sky by day and owls sail under the cosmos at night. A view of Turtleback Mountain will not escape you. Suite 2 features a queen size bed and kitchen. The private bathroom has a walk-in shower. The functional kitchen includes a refrigerator, stove and cooking basics. Enjoy the other amenities such as organic olive oil, salt, pepper, organic coffee, organic tea, and organic half and half. Dine within the privacy of your suite or al fresco at the communal table. We also offer a $5 gift card to one of our local eateries within walking distance. Nurture yourself with a soak in Truth or Consequences famous hot mineral water. There are several spas to choose from and we recommend making reservations in advanced. The spaces will fill up quickly, especially on the weekends. For those interested in the healing arts, you can enhance your experience by adding massage therapy. We provide a lists of therapists, dedicated to your wellbeing who are available for a spa treatment. We use biodegradable, fragrance-free cleaning products also made at home. If this guest room doesn't suite your fancy, take a peek at our other listings... Guests are invited to rest and relax in the sitting areas surrounded by a lovingly tended and ever-growing garden. Guests are also welcome to use the recycling / compost shed, as well as our laundry shed. Hang your clothes on the line and let the dessert sun do the drying. Coming soon we will be opening our Tulashop featuring hand crafted gifts and art from local artisans. We care for our sanctuary with devotion. The serenity and tranquility from escaping the concrete jungle is what we have experienced in T or C and hope to share with everyone. We have come to love our privacy here and will happily give you yours, however, if you need anything, we are readily available. We look forward to your stay with us! T or C as the locals call it, was formerly named Ojo Caliente de Las Palomas or Hot Springs of the Doves. It was a Place of Peace where everyone came and laid their differences aside to cleanse themselves in the sacred waters. Today, it remains an eclectic town where artists, healers and cowboys merge over the hot springs basin. Our sanctuary is superbly located on this basin in the historic bathhouse district and nestled near the Rio Grande River. Walk to restaurants, shops, galleries, grocery stores, hot springs bath houses and one of two parks along the Rio Grande River. If you are with us the second Saturday of the month, you will enjoy hopping the colorful art hop through the downtown district. See local art and get to know some of the local color. Treat yourself to an outing and take in the desert beauty by hiking along the nearby Healing Waters Trail or floating down the river. Sierra County offers more bodies of water than just the springs and river. Drive 10 minutes, and you will find yourself in the captivating Elephante Butte Lake. Take a walk along the beach, yes, the beach and swim in the warm desert water. Drive 20 minutes in the other direction and you will come across the enchanting and less trafficked, Caballo Lake. Take a detour and visit Spaceport America. Tours are offered from the Spaceport Visitor's Center located downtown. For the Buddhist in you, get your Puja on at Karma Jur Med Ling Dharma Center. This diamond in the desert is frequented by its Tibetan founder, Lama Karma Rinchen. Turner Ranches offers expedition tours at one of its two pristine ranches surrounding our county, the Ladder and Armendaris Ranch. Leave your car behind. Everything is accessible without one: restaurants, shops, galleries and grocery stores. Stroll one block in either direction to unique bathhouses or three blocks to two parks along the Rio Grande.. We have two special little felines, Abigail and Frankie, who live with us on the property. They are friendly and might want to come up to your patio to say hello. However, in respect to those with allergies, we don't allow them inside the guest rooms. Please help us maintain their vitality and longevity by not feeding them.
