Description
You have just discovered a Texas paradise. River Palm Retreat is nestled along along the clean and cool San Marcos River. The property is quiet, peaceful and secure. Families with children will especially enjoy the giant backyard, easy stair access to the gravel beach, safe shallow water wading, excellent fishing and kayaking, and best of all...the lack of commercial inner tubing. No big-city stresses here; relax on the screened porch, listen to the birds, and best of all...enjoy the solitude. The space Everything is updated and new, including the air conditioning! We pride ourselves in supplying 100% cotton bedding and linens, quality cookware and utensils, robust wi-fi, all new furniture, sound machines in each bedroom, spotless cleaning after each use, beautiful landscaping, and privacy. Be sure to bring big thick steaks for the gas grill on the patio. The hot tub is kept sparkling clean and has an easy to climb and stable staircase for safe entry and exit. Guests often comment that the screened porch is their favorite spot; the view of the backyard is perfect for morning coffee or evening chats. This is a unique and friendly neighborhood with residents who have lived here for decades; you will enjoy the peaceful and quiet nature of the location. NOTE - Rowdy or puerile behavior, heavy bass / loud music, etc. is not welcomed or tolerated. Guest access The house is carefully designed inside and out for your vacation getaway. The entire property (about a half acre) is yours to enjoy. Bring a folding shade structure and stay on the gravel beach all day long. Set up the croquet wickets and enjoy the shade of the palm trees. The driveway has plenty of free parking. There is a separate garage apartment which is rarely but occasionally rented for corporate rentals; the entrance to the apartment is away from the house so the privacy of the guests is maintained. Other things to note You can rent canoes and kayaks from Spencer's Canoes, which is close by. SECRET TIP - The kayak trip to the tiny town of Staples is a 3-4 hour paddling adventure; you might not see anyone on the river the entire trip. The glass bottomed boats at the River Center in San Marcos are a memorable family outing. The wi-fi can deliver up to 70 Mbps and works very well outside. The AT&T phone signal is medium at this location, but using the wi-fi setting on your phone works well. The fishing (fly or conventional) from this location to Staples, Texas is excellent in the Fall and Spring.
