Rumbley Cottage on the Tangier Sound-Private Beach
Description
Rumbley Cottage, a custom-built home, provides a quiet stay in nature. Views from all windows. Look out at the mouth of the Manokin River at Tangier Sound on one side; wetlands on the other side. NO CLEANING OR PET FEE. Rumbley Cottage is enjoyed year- round with a great fireplace. Many amenities: WE PROVIDE THE FIREWOOD AND STARTERS, kayaks, paddle boards, MB toiletries. The space This is not Rehobeth Beach nor Ocean City. It is for folks looking for a quite, beach getaway, swimming in a gentle surf, watching the nesting ospreys on the shoreline, watching sunsets , reading on the porch. We welcome companion dogs, however, require that they be on a leash at all times when outside of the house due to the wildlife. We list the cottage as 2BR/2BA since the majority of our guests use only two bedrooms and we like to keep the cost reasonable There is a third bedroom available on request for $50/per night extra. It has a queen bed and also an ensuite bathroom, the same as the other two bedrooms. The shower is very small but it is nice to have the convenience of a toilet and sink off the bedroom. Please let us know well in advance if you want to reserve the third bedroom. The upstairs bathroom ensuite to the second bathroom has a bathtub. Both daughters thought it best to have a bathtub for families with small children. Guest access Guests have access to the entire house, garage and beach and there is ample off-street parking. We will send a list a couple of weeks before arrival date of all the amenities we provide. Among the amenities are firewood and starters, beach towels, Molton Brown toiletries, kayaks, bikes and paddle boards. There is a large-screen TV and DVD player. The kitchen is well stocked- including coffee, tea, cream, basic condiments (ketchup, mustard, mayo, maple syrup, tabasco sauce and the basic staples ( flour, sugar, herbs and spices.) There is a propane crab cooker, picking utensils, bay seasoning and malt vinegar. There is a guest guide book on the dining room table with restaurant, hiking and sight-seeing recommendations. Other things to note Please note: The last hundred yards or so are unpaved. There was one occasion 2019, that the road leading to the cottage was partially underwater. The house, garage and front yard are four feet above the 100 yard flood plain and have NEVER flooded. In October of 2019 there were several factors including an exceptionally high tide and Noreaster that kept a portion of the road underwater for a few hours. According to all the local folks, this last happened in 1976.
