Our vintage home was built during the 60's-70's (our era) and we have tried to keep it fun, casual and quirky-- reminiscent of a funky 70's beach house. It's set high on a cliff about 40 feet above the rocks and booming surf and has the most spectacular view of the Pacific coast and picturesque Descanso Bay. As you walk through the unassuming front door you will be greeted by an expansively breathtaking view. Many have said that it feels like being on the deck of a cruise ship- you feel like you are actually on the water. The home has 4500 sq. ft. of living space. The rooms are comfortable and spacious with high ceilings, large windows and lots of light and decorated with vintage touches and original art. The kitchen is well appointed with pots, pans, serving dishes, cutlery, coffee and tea makers, spices, and linens. It has a vintage 6 burner range, dishwasher, microwave and double door fridge/freezer. There is a charcoal BBQ outside on the upper deck. The ocean front decks are very large and have tables and lounges for just hanging out and relaxing and enjoying the sun and sea. There is also a small 15x15x4' pool on the lower deck which is filled during the warmer months. Usually late June/early July until the end of Oct and sometimes up into Nov depending on the weather. Our home is in a safe, gated, private neighborhood and is secluded and comfortable and equipped with everything you need to make your vacation perfect. Sorry, pets are not allowed. THIS IS NOT A PARTY HOUSE! Please respect the Zen. Our home is best suited for families and groups who want to take advantage of the beautiful views and quiet, relaxing environment. Our neighbors are all retired people. We do not mind if you "party" with your group during the day and up until 10pm but you cannot have a party and invite extra people. There is to be no loud music-- especially thumping bass-- after 10pm. Quiet time is 10pm to 10am. Early check-in and late check-out can be arranged at $50 per hour. Stays past 11am check-out time will be charged a late check out fee of $50 per hour. There must be at least one person 25 or older in your group. ALL PERSONS MUST REGISTER BY CREATING A PROFILE ON AIRBNB SO WE KNOW WHO IS OCCUPYING OUR HOME. (kids under 18 not required to have a profile if traveling with family) No central heat or A/C-- The temperature here is generally somewhere between 60-75 degrees all year round during the day and can dip into the 50's at night. In the winter we heat the house with the wood burning fireplace. Boxes of wood can be provided at an additional charge of $5 per box or you may bring your own. During the summer there is always a breeze which keeps the house cool and we have fans available for your use in every room. Special care must be taken with the plumbing in the house. Our home is one of the original homes first built in this neighborhood. As an older house, it has an older septic and well water system. Thus, the systems are more delicate than city systems in the US and must be treated gently. Toilet paper cannot be flushed. We also have to have the water trucked in and the "pila" or water holding tank only holds so much water so showers must be short. This is very important as we do not want you to have problems during your stay!! Sorry, pets are not allowed. In order for us to offer our home as a vacation rental, the neighborhood requires owners to be on site in case of emergency. However, we will not interfere with your group unless you need something! We will be accessing the front yard to enter and exit the property and studio and to maintain the garden from our separate apartment which is attached to the main house on the west end. Hosts will be in the front yard areas periodically to water plants, feed animals and do maintenance in the gardens and to enter and exit art studio. We prefer if guests do not use the front yard area to keep separation. PLEASE NOTE: There is also a separate double occupancy Casita/studio apt. with it's own separate entrance and outdoor areas. It may possibly be rented to another couple during your stay. You may see each other coming and going or possibly from afar on the ocean front deck area. However, house and grounds are large and there is plenty of separation and privacy for your group. We will be present at the property in our separate area, but will not interfere with your party unless there is an emergency. Sol Villa is located in a quiet and laid back neighborhood made up of mostly retired ex-pats. Please respect the Zen. City buses, Uber and taxis are available in our area but it's easier if you have your own vehicle. There are lots of things to see and do in the area-- 40 min. drive to Guadalupe Valley for wine tasting and gourmet restaurants, 5 minutes to Puerto Nuevo Lobster Village, 3 minutes to K38 surf break, 45 minutes to Ensenada, walking distance to some good restaurants. There is hiking, fishing, horseback riding, quad riding on the dunes. Fishing can be done right down below the house from the rocks where we also have a small salt water pool, usable to sit or wade in depending on the tides. Access to the rocks and pool is down a steep stairway-- use caution! There is a Salon/Spa, a dentist, an art gallery and a cafe at the front of the property and a small market directly across the street. We can arrange indoor or outdoor, ocean front massages and spa services. There are 3 comfortable guest rooms: Room 1. Queen bed, private bathroom, sleeps 2 Room 2. Queen bed, twin trundle bed, private bathroom, ocean view, sleeps 2-4 Room 3. Queen bed, twin daybed, ocean view, sleeps 2-3 Bed linens and bath towels are provided and there is shampoo/conditioner and body wash in all the showers. Ask about adding the 1 bedroom casa next door which is an additional double occupancy suite for groups with over 10 guests. It can sleep 2-4 and has a queen bed and a twin bed. A twin airbed bed can also be added.
