Our primary residence has a spacious organic open floor plan, filled with sunshine and warmth due to its southwest orientation and large glass windows and doors. It also have an organic indoor-outdoor flow with a cantilever deck of the living room, a breakfast-nook sized deck off the kitchen and family room, and an uninterrupted upper level deck alongside all three bedrooms. This house was built in 1992, and despite its age is well maintained and well-appointed, with all the essentials in all the rooms for a comfortable and relaxed stay. The house is located on a short street that ends in a cul de sac, and in a neighborhood with an unusual level of privacy and quietness for a Berkeley Hill neighborhood. Being located on one of the highest points of the Berkeley Hills, we have panoramic, stunning and uninterrupted views of the San Francisco Bay, San Francisco City and Marin County. We can see four bridges...the famous Golden Gate and Bay Bridges, Richmond-San Rafael, and on a clear day the San Mateo bridge. Smack in front of us lies four islands including the infamous Alcatraz with its prison system, Angel Island, also known as the Ellis Island of the West, the Treasure and Yerba Buena under the Bay Bridge. The City of Berkeley unfolds right in front of us, with sightings of the BART transit looking like toy-trains going in and out of their underground railway networks, the Berkeley marina with its aging piers and the landscape view of iconic Berkeley. From the cities of Richmond and Albany to the north, to the cities of the high-rise buildings of Emeryville, down to the city and port of Oakland. Our home is a minute away to trails in Tilden Regional Park, a little over 2000 acres of protected natural habitat. Our family has collectively accumulated many hours hiking the large network of trails, swimming in Lake Anza, petting animals at the Little Farm, riding the iconic carousel and the steam train, playing golf and visiting the East Bay Regional Botanical Garden. Also a minute away is the Altas stairway and the Scott Newhall pathway. Colloquially referred to as the hidden pathways of the East Bay, this more than 400 public lattice of staircases and pathways run the gentle and steep slopes of Berkeley and Oakland. Our steep hillside yard is slowly being transformed from a brown landscape of invasive plant species, to mostly California Natives, growing on little to no added irrigation, and terraces to follow the natural contours of the hill. This DIY project is becoming home for local butterflies, birds and bees. We are frequently visited by deer, and occasionally by fox, coyote and wild turkey. We are complaint with all rules for Short Term Rentals in the City of Berkeley - the zoning certificate number is ZCSTR2019-0046. Guest access You will have access to the entire house with the exception of two cabinets and two closets. Other things to note The pioneers of Berkeley Hills designed this neighborhood to be exclusively for residential purposes. Grocery stores, restaurants, shops, gas stations, are in the "flats" A 10-15 minute drive by car, Uber or Lyft takes you to Gourmet Ghetto, an neighborhood filled with shops, cafes, bars, gas pumps, grocery stores, and restaurants. This includes Alice Water's famous Chez Panise restaurant and the iconic Cheese Board collective which has an assortment of cheese and baked goods, as well as their pizza of the day. The nearest local produce store is the famous Monterrey Market, that has the best seasonal and international produce. You can also use the public bus system. A minute walk from our home takes you to Bus # 65 stop. We also have immediate access to Berkeley's network of 'Hidden Steps & Trails'.
