The space The house was originally built 1928 as a three car garage with servant’s quarters upstairs. No longer a garage, the living room is perfect for family summer holiday, with lots of chairs, sofas and a large dinner table. The back deck has a canopied table and a wraparound bench railing. The porch is totally private and great for afternoon sunbathing. The downstairs bedroom has a bay window and a king-size bed with a kitchenette and bar. The room is a separate sanctuary with its own bathroom. The kitchen has a cathedral ceiling, a long breakfast table and all the cooking appliances and utensils expected. A large window looks out over the back bay and Bean Island. The kitchen porch is warmed by the morning sun. Upstairs there are four bedrooms, a full bathroom with a hall reading lounge. The upstairs Master bedroom has a queen size bed, the West room has two single beds, the Corner room has one single bed and the Pink room has a full size bed. The upstairs large bathroom has a bathtub and there's a private outdoor shower during the warm months. During July and August the Sorrento VIA offers, golf, tennis, pickleball, a regulation croquet court, sailing and a pool. Children's activities include "Camp Sorrento" for pre-schoolers and tennis and sailing lessons for the older ones as well as entire family events. Guest access The lawn is large enough for croquet or badminton and two kayaks are available for guests. There are also plenty of board games and books in the house. A path leads down to the shoreline where you can launch the kayaks, hunt for sea glass and pick muscles. It is rocky, so wear sneakers. Sorrento is a great place for walking or biking but you'll need to bring your own or rent bikes in Ellsworth or Bar Harbor. Other things to note Acadia National Park has areas to the north and south, from Schoodic Point to Mount Desert Island. There are also State and local parks for mountains climbing and lakes for swimming. Local restaurant are very good and vary from high end to roadside lobster drive ins. Ellsworth and Winter Harbor have full grocery stores. Ellsworth is larger and has an L.L. Bean outlet. There are several large shopping malls in Bangor.
