The charm at this location is the lake, the view, and life outdoors on the dock with or without umbrella. Ideal for remote working with 250 Mbps internet speed. Clean, two-level, fully renovated, modern, cozy, 140 m² (1500 ft²) executive home, with an open-concept kitchen with new cabinets/quartz counter top/stainless steel appliances; Living and Dining room beautifully furnished with modern furniture (dining table is extendable for 8 persons); and a TV room with a comfortable, sink-in couch. One bedroom is on the main floor with a bunk bed with a double bed, a twin-over-double bed above it and a movable twin trundle below it. The master bedroom on the upper floor has a king-size bed and the second upper floor bedroom has a queen-size bed. The house will accommodate 8 persons with a limit of 6 adults. We suggest to have 6 adults/2 kids or 5 adults/3 kids to avoid tripping over each other should the weather changes. The bathroom on the main floor has a door-less and step-less shower. The upper floor has a large, modern tub that has a hand-held shower and a soaker bath for two persons next to a table for champagne and glasses. The large covered sundeck offers a beautiful view of the lake and surrounding mountains. For your enjoyment, there is a 55" LCD TV with satellite reception, Chromecast and surround sound system, wireless internet, front-loading washer/dryer and clean drinking water from a well (note: it is NOT piped-in from the lake). We have several foam pool noodles and inflatable float toys, two kayaks and one paddle board for your use. Jump into the lake from the dock, or walk in from the shallow gravel beach. Cain Lake offers trout fishing, and swimming in 26°C (79°F) summer water. Compare that with 20°C (68°F) in September in Lake Whatcom. BTW, kids love our shallow gravel beach. Don't forget to bring a good book to read on the dock underneath the provided large umbrella. Or just play the provided badminton game on the huge shaded lot underneath giant cedar trees. Whatever you do at the lake, be responsible and take all the necessary precaution to make your stay lasting and enjoyable. We are not responsible for your carelessness. The kitchen is fully stocked with dishes, pots and pans, utensils, etc. if you enjoy cooking, and of course there is a large coffee machine. For steak, fish or vegetables, an outdoor Weber propane BBQ is available. For your convenience in the kitchen we are providing the following: blender, mini chopper, hand blender, hot plate griddle, percolator coffee maker, drip coffee maker, toaster oven, pressure cooker, electric rice maker, cook-top rice steamer, coffee grinder, and probably more. Ask us, if you don' see the kitchen item. They all are relatively new and are in perfect working condition. We also have a badminton set for your use. The dock has a ladder that by now (summer) should be in the lowered position. Make sure to use the pin to keep it in the lowered position. A request. We noted, that for a good laundry time between check-out and check-in is short. In particular, laundry of large bath towels takes considerable time. We would really appreciate if guests would start at least one laundry cycle of the towels before check-out time. This will allow us to maintain the present check-in/check-out times. It is totally voluntary, but will be much, much appreciated. Enjoy worry-free swimming across the water or floating on the water as no noisy and smelly gas power boats are allowed at Cain Lake - only electric ones. The tranquil area also lends itself to hiking, biking, and in the winter skiing at Mount Baker. No land line phone is available. AT&T cell reception is good at the house, but not T-mobile's. I was told Verizon's is good as well, but not sure of others. If you have a question or special need or have an idea that is just different before booking, contact us. We will probably be able to accommodate you. Unfortunately we cannot provide safety equipment, such as life safety vests, for insurance reasons. If you are not sure how to operate anything at the house, send us a text message or an e-mail which we check frequently. The house is 5 min. east of I-5 at Alger, WA, located in a secluded area, yet only 15 min. from Bellingham and Burlington, 1.5 hours from Seattle and Vancouver, BC, and 55 minutes from Mount Baker ski area. Looking up, high on the tall tree tops you could see eagles tending their nest, occasionally diving down to scoop a trout from the lake. Lake Whatcom is 5 minutes away. The closest airport is Bellingham International Airport, about 25 min. to the north. Places of interest nearby include casinos, golf courses, Western Washington University, Skagit Speedway, Bellis Fair Mall, Seattle Premium Outlets & Burlington Outlet Shoppes, tulips in La Conner, etc. A corner store for your forgotten items is 1 min. away by car. There is lots of parking on the site. Bring your own bicycle and explore nature's paths. Many cyclists use the main road on Sundays. Just come, enjoy and have fun. Take the Amtrak train from Fairhaven Station in Bellingham to Vancouver or Seattle for a relaxing trip. Don't be misled by "AirBnB's $5000 Security Deposit" as it is not an amount that you have to pay in advance as a deposit. According to AirBnB it is the max. amount you pay when there is damage. During the covid-19 pandemic, we will extend the cleaning and disinfecting of the place to include one hour before check-in and one hour after check-in, subject to previous/next guest departure/arrival. Check with us if you wish to stay longer for the day of if check-in/check-out is critical. The lake is stocked with about 10,000 rainbow trouts every year. April and May are excellent, June and October are good for trout fishing. Please obtain a fishing permit from Washington Fish & Wildlife if you intend to fish. The gentle-sloping beach is great for kids and the swimming-challenged. Please do not use the indoor fireplace in the summer. You are welcome to use the outdoor pit. Please contact us if you intend to have a bonfire. Since we have purchased the logs by chord, we need to pass on the charges to you if you wish to use our logs. Satellite pay-per-view is available, please contact us for the password and we will pass on the charges. Any use of floating water devices must be under the supervision of a person of 18 years and over. Rowing boat, kayaks and SUP cannot be dragged into the water. They must be lifted by two persons and placed on the water. Any damage will be filed with AirBnB. No devices are to be left untied to the dock, or left on the water at night. After use of the kayaks, please remove any rocks and drain remaining water. Keep row boat upside down during rain, or before checking-out. Lock row boat to dock please. At summer nights and before checking out, please close the umbrella on the dock, and tie together especially during windy weather. Do not use when wind is blowing hard. We provide beach towels for outdoor use. Please do not use indoor bath towels outdoors. We do not want to file a damage claim at the end of your stay. So, make sure your kids will not cause a need for professional or extensive cleaning of the furniture beyond simple vacuum-cleaning. We suggest using a beach towel if your kids eat food that will stick to the cloth furniture as it is easier to clean than the furniture.
