Description

Escape to the beautiful Blue Mountains and immerse yourself in this amazing Historic Retreat. Built in the 1920's.... so 100 years worth of history & trinkets including an original old door from an old 'rattler train' & beautiful lead light windows! Pet Friendly but PLEASE NOTE NO ENCLOSED BACK YARD. Check pics to determine if suitable for your pet. A 5-10min walk to all that you might need... Springwood Train Station, grocery & bread shop, newsagent, cafe's, restaurants etc.. Come Visit! The space Springwood is hub of the Blue Mountains. You have access to the whole house. You will be the only ones staying at the house This fully-furnished house provides all the needs of a holiday or business traveller & it's in a great location! It's just 7mins walk from the Springwood train station, if you take the shortcut through the pathway & across the highway.... longer if you walk down to the lights to cross. It has 1 large bedroom and a smaller Games Room that has a single fold out sofa bed....so the room can be used as a Games Room or a bedroom... It's a magical room with 3 amazing lead light windows. We leave it as a Sofa and you are welcome to convert it to a bed, if needed. It will comfortably fit a small child or teenager (topper available & is stored in the main bedroom) You will find a Queen bed in the large main bedroom. This is also where a single bed is stored. This bed is a sprung single bed & can be placed either on the floor in the main bedroom or between the dining area & the 'chill zone' in the undercover verandah. In the Lounge room there is a fold out sofa bed that also sleeps one. There is also a topper for this bed, if needed. This bed is only suitable for a child. IN TOTAL THE HOUSE SLEEPS 5... * 2 Adults in the Queen bed; * 1 child in the lounge sofa bed; * a 2nd child in the Games Room on the fold our sofa bed & * Either a 3rd Adult or 3rd child on the single mattress. You will find a beautiful old kitchen with the original fireplace and an enclosed verandah that completely surrounds the house. This was originally an open verandah but was enclosed as some point to increase the living space! If you check out the toilet door you will see that it used to be a train toilet door back in the days of the old rattlers!! Check out the signs on this door.... definitely from a bygone era You will love this uniquely decorated house! A modern touch with remnants of 1920's style & character right through..... to touches of the 60's & 70's. A true reflection of the generations that have lived in this house since the 1920's We have attempted to retain the character of the home. Just like back in the day you will find mats on polished timber floors. There are gas heaters for use in Winter and Fans for use in summer. There is no air-conditioning, but plenty of fans and heaters. As a result we may need to include an extra fee though winter for the heating. The house has a smart meter and & this will give an accurate reading for the length of your stay. If usage is about a certain amount per day or per stay (yet to be determined) this will need be charged to the guest. If the heaters are used in the enclosed rooms (where you can close the doors) this will drastically minimize the heating cost & no extra cost will need to be charged If the heater are used on the open verandah the costs will be excess so the extra cost will be based on actual usage which is calculated easily with a smart meter. Our aim is not to charge you more but to make guests mindful of how they use the heaters in this current high cost energy environment and there will hopefully be no extra to pay! Although there is a fireplace in the kitchen and Lounge rooms this is for decoration only. We are slowly but surly returning the house to it's past glory days! There are some cosmetic repairs needed and painting and removal of the shed & fixing the cladding on the house. We are working through this to do list slowly but surely! The upkeep as well as maintenance and repairs are costly and take time. So please be understanding that the house is a work in progress. and the nightly rate (much lower than other hertiage properties) refects that not everything is being presented at 100%. If you feel that this is going to inconvenience or annoy you then please do not book. We would love to have guests that appreciate both how the house is presented but also understand that we are slowly but surely working to bring it back to it's past Glory Days! We are always open to feedback and different guest perspectives so any positive, constructive feedback is always sought and welcomed! THE HOUSE HAS... * Stylish kitchen including a fridge, freezer, microwave oven, pantry, all cooking utensils and cutlery/crockery. There are also quite a few old piece for decoration only * The main bedroom has a new memory foam Queen-size bed with plenty of wardrobe storage. A single bed (sprung mattress) is stored in the main bedroom * The Games Room has a sofa bed that folds out into a single bed * Good-sized modern bathroom with a bath & shower (3 uneven steps down to the toilet) * Separate toilet (3 uneven steps down to the toilet) * Separate laundry with front and top loading washing machines and dryers. No internal access. Access is via the verandah & a skinny walkway or from the outside back steps * Lounge room with TV, PS3, Sound Bar, DVD, VHS and sofa-bed that sleeps 1 (suitable for a child) * Dine inside or outside on the balcony overlooking the beautiful garden & the Birdwood Gully. PLEASE NOTE: Both the toilet and bathroom are located off the enclosed verandah & there are 3 uneven steps down to access these areas. The bathroom steps are different heights - the 1st step is shorter than the 2 bottom steps that are both the same size. Please consider if this will suit you and/or your group. PETS There is an enclosed balcony & attached laundry where your pets can roam freely! The back garden area is not enclosed, but if you have a long lead you can tie that to the clothesline so that your pet can have access to the back garden. We do not supply pet bedding so please bring anything that you need for your pet and please do not allow your pet to sleep in any of the beds at the house. PLEASE NOTE: in an effort to continue our great relationship with our neighbours, if your dog barks excessively (we know all dogs bark at times) but if it's constant, this is not the accommodation for you. There are many trinkets at the property so check the listing pics and consider carefully if the house would be suitable for your pet. Please clean up after your pets. If there is extra cleaning required as a result of having your pet at the house we will need to charge an extra cleaning fee. The back garden with the lions and the outdoor table under the citrus tree is a great place to chill! Guest access The Entire house is available for guest use as well as the outdoor garden area. The back shed is locked and not for guest use. Being a cul-de-sac street it is a quiet street but parking can sometimes be a bit tight so take care when driving in and parking in the street. 2 cars will fit in the street in front of the house. EVERYTHING that you need is within walking distance, via the Dheran Path shortcut!.... the IGA, Brumby's Bakery, a number of quaint cafe's, a newsagent, a medical centre etc...are all located at Springwood. PLEASE NOTE: If you take the Dheran Path shortcut you will need to cross the Great Western Freeway. It's a busy road & there are no traffic lights at the end of the path. The closest traffic lights are at Moorecourt Ave, heading up the mountains (see pic in listings pics). If you take this route it will take you about 20mins to get from the house to the Springwood Shops. Other things to note PLEASE NOTE: This is not a hotel or motel with onsite staff & cleaners so we ask that you please clean up after yourself, clean up any messes including the stove top and leave the house as you found it, getting rid of all of your rubbish in the bins provided and please only use the linen & towels that you need. This greatly assists us to control costs. RUBBISH COLLECTION: If you are a longer stay guest and the outside bins are getting full it would be much appreciated if you are able to place the bins curbside on a Wednesday afternoon/evening for rubbish collection. UNIQUE: You will love the historic period furniture, paintings & decor. HEATERS: There are 2 Natural Gas Heaters in the house. One is located at the end of the enclosed verandah in the 'Chill Zone" and the other one inside the fire place. There are also column heaters & electric heater for use in the bedrooms or they can be moved to whatever room/s you would like to use them in. LAUNDRY LIGHT: PLEASE BE AWARE that the laundry light is not working. We have put a light in the laundry that you will need to switch on if you enter the laundry at night. What you can also do is open the roller blind in the laundry so that the light from the enclosed Verandah shines through into the Laundry room. This is not an easy fix, according to the electrician based on the difficulty to access the wiring. PARKING is on the street in front of the house. The neighbours are aware that guests with cars will need to park at the front of the property, so that should always be available to you. If, for some reason, it isn't please do not hesitate to let me know & I will do what I can by contacting the neighbours to have them move their car. Alternatively you can park anywhere in the street. COMMUNICATION: ALSO please be aware that our communication with you will be via Airbnb chat & the Airbnb App. You will need the Airbnb App on your phone & understand how to access the chat & check-in instructions. If you don't have the App you will need to save the check in instructions from your computer to your phone. Registration Details PID-STRA-11281
