37 Foster-Left is a Chautauqua Institution half-double house built c. 1895 updated with all modern conveniences, nicely decorated and furnished with all your needs for a comfortable vacation. The sparkling clean house is in a central location. You will enjoy relaxing on the porch with wicker furniture and flower boxes in the true Chautauqua atmosphere. The space NOTE: It is necessary to buy a GATE PASS from Chautauqua Institution during the program season (June 26 - August 28in 2021). Entrance to the grounds is free at other times. Our lodging is a Chautauqua Institution half-double house built c. 1895 updated with all modern conveniences, nicely decorated and furnished with all your needs for a comfortable vacation. It is located near the "Brick Walk" between the Amphitheater and Hall of Philosophy. There is a porch with wicker, WiFi, cable TV, a bright new kitchen (2010), shared laundry. 4-BR (Q,S,S,S) sleeps 5. 1 Bath. Chautauqua Lake is only a few blocks away, but our location above it on the same level as the program venues allows easy access, In the Program Season we provide reserved parking for one car 2 blocks away inside the Institution. During the program season we pay for a reserved parking spot nearby in the South Lot 2 blocks from the house. Post Season there is usually parking in the driveway at the house. Please confirm that with us. Chautauqua Institution offers a fabulous, nationally-known, program of culture, entertainment, education, and recreation during a 9-week program season (late June to end of August). Our neighborhood attracts a mixture of families with children, seniors, and longtime residents, and the atmosphere is relaxed and congenial, with people who a friendly yet respect everyone's privacy. Days flow by in a regular rhythm as the kids swarm by on their bikes at 9 am headed to Boys' and Girls' Club day camp, then crowds amble over to the 10:45 am morning lecture by internationally famous speakers, e.g. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Chautauqua Lake calls for an afternoon of swimming and/or sailing, and the 8:15 pm evening program fills the historic Amphitheater with music from classical, to jazz, to rock. You have everything you need to whip up gourmet meals in our sparkling new clean and well-equipped kitchen, but there are also restaurants from casual to fine dining within a few blocks, and a variety of lakeside dining places to reach by car. The Booksore, Library, Post Office, and a variety of shops on Bestor Plaza are just minutes away on foot or by tram. During the summer program season we rent Saturday to Saturday for $2695. Outside the season there is a 3-night minimum for $175/night during holidays or at normal times for $155/ night, plus 5% county occupancy tax and $80 end cleaning.. Guest access Guests have complete private use of the house. We share a laundry on the lower level and a gas grill behind the house. Other things to note This is a No Smoking property. Unfortunately, we are not able to accept pets. We request our guests to wear house shoes/slippers/socks n the the house. There is a shoe rack at the door.
