Description
Are you looking for a character property with bags of outside space for a group celebration? Whether it's letting the kids run free on our games field or shooting some archery arrows for a Hen do; Howgills Barn offers a perfect country escape. Its location up a private lane in the charming market town of Sedbergh provides easy access to the Lakes and the Dales, so you can explore this outside playground until your heart is content. The space Inside: - There are 8 en-suite bunk bedrooms sleeping up to 24 guests. - Bursting with character our Barn offers a spacious lounge with an open-plan dining area. Curl your toes on the warm flagged floors that benefit from underfloor heating. Or find the perfect spot to gaze out of the large windows to take in the fells and get lost in your thoughts. - The upstairs mezzanine offers the perfect space to enjoy satellite TV and the glazed partition means you can still keep an eye on what is happening below in the lounge! You can curl up and read a book or the kids can enjoy playing with our games and toys. - Our two commercial kitchens provide everything you'll need to whip up a feast. Or if you fancy a break, we work with a local chef who can be booked to provide a variety of culinary delights for you; from handmade pizzas, tray bakes, or three-course meals. - There's a drying room for all your kit and downstairs there is a washer and dryer. Please let us know if you would like complimentary high chairs or travel cots. - We're not sure who likes our games room more. We call it the 'tractor shed' and you can play darts or a game of pool. - Even though you'll be in rural heaven, you don't need to worry about not being able to connect with the outside world with our wifi. - We're all about family stays and that includes bringing the family faithful dog too! You can wander from the Barn straight up the fell so your dog will return home rested too! - You'll feel like you're in the middle of nowhere but it's only a 10-minute walk down a country lane into the centre of Sedbergh which is handy for ice cream or perhaps a pint of local ale. Outside: - To the front of Howgills Barn, there is a gravel forecourt that provides parking for up to 24 cars. - To the rear of the Barn is a terrace for outdoor dining, with gas BBQs and a fire pit for cosying around for an evening. The Barn's position at the end of a private lane means there is very little light pollution so the dark skies are all the evening entertainment that is needed. Well, maybe a bag of marshmallows too. If you need to warm up you can always have a dip in the undercover hot tub. - As you drive up to the Barn you'll notice we have a 5-acre games field. Egg and spoon race anyone? Or maybe a water bomb fight on a hot day or a game of rounders? Guest access Travel and access information will be provided once your reservation has been confirmed. Other things to note Situated between the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District, Sedbergh (pronounced 'Sed-ber') radiates an old-world charm and some of our guests have described it as 'being on the set of a Harry Potter movie!' There are winding cobbled ginnels framed by historic sandstone buildings and the Main Street has small, independent shops, cafes, and pubs. Nestled below a valley of hills that are called the Howgill Fells the breathtaking views will call you to go and have an explore! Perfect for walking, mountain biking, and waterfall dipping. Historically, weaving and wool textiles played an important part in the town's heritage and more can be explored at Farfield Mill, Arts and Heritage Centre. Sedbergh is also England's official Book Town. Choose from a huge variety of books from cheap reads to collectibles available from a wide range of booksellers and local shops and cafes.
