The Big House is an 1850's renovated beauty which sits on 2 acres, w most windows overlooking the Hudson River. The enormous pool / outdoor bbq area and grounds are enough to keep a family / friend reunion busy for days. From lazy afternoons reading on the porch, days floating in the pool, to hosting cozy family dinners, it has proven to be a favorite gathering space. The house is within walking distance of the waterfront, downtown historic district and 7 minutes over the bridge to DT Beacon. The space It is a wonderful spot for a family or two to camp out for a visit to our beautiful Hudson Valley, or for a retreat of friends. From lounging by the pool and barbequing in the summer, to taking in the view, watching the leaves change, hiking, kayaking, shopping, farm visits, restaurant hopping (/ ordering in), or just snuggling up with a good book and a home cooked meal, there is no lack of activities or R&R. With it's expansive space inside and out, we welcome neighborhood respectful fun. Guest access The garage and basement will be locked, but the laundry room in the basement will be accessible. The elevator will be turned off and will only be turned on at the the owners discretion and with a signed waiver. Other things to note The pool is very large. It and the small adjoining jetted-pool can be heated to a max of 85 degrees and is only open in the summer months. The fireplaces and elevator are not operable during normal rentals. We have made exception with the signing of a legal waiver to be determined on a case by case basis upon request. After an harrowing guest experience, we must now require all guests to the property to leave a copy of their driver's license at check in (locked up onsite) and sign an acknowledgement of the house rules. At the end of a clean and safe stay, before departure, we will do a walk-through of the house and the copies of driver's licenses will be given back. A meter reading is done before and after each stay. Any utility usage above normal (leaving windows and doors open while the AC / heat is on, excess water, etc) or movie rental on the TV will be billed as an addition charge. The maintenance crew (landscaping or repair) may come to the site to address regular maintenance, or fix items that have arisen. Notice will be given of schedule at check in, or via normal communication throughout the stay as we find out. As a guest, you are responsible for letting us know of any items that break during your stay. You are responsible for replacing or reimbursing for broken items and if we find broken items that are unreported, we will address with Airbnb and it will reflect in the review. Please be respectful of the property and its contents, it is someone's home, not a full time rental.
