Lovely, light-filled, quiet, clean apartment with private entrance, full kitchen. Architect-designed for style and comfort. Two bedrooms, comfortably houses 4 people (5 if someone sleeps on the couch!) in prime Alberta Arts location. Our apartment has a private entrance 20 feet from our front door and requires no interaction with us while checking-in or out, but we are nearby and happy to help with whatever you need. You'll be staying in a modern, charming and comfy apartment in the heart of one of the most walkable, friendly and Portland-y neighborhoods in Portland. My architect husband spent 2 years designing and building an 800 square foot apartment in the basement of our home that is, frankly, nicer than the upstairs where we live! Lots of windows bring in natural light, and the ceiling height is 7 feet, with extra noise protection to ensure peace and quiet. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need to cook a meal, the beds and linens are all natural/cotton, and the couch folds into a twin bed (not the most comfortable bed on earth, but will do in a pinch! And we have linens for it.) There's also a washer and dryer in the apartment and plenty of workspace and closet space. We use very few fragrances other than essential oils to keep the space comfortable for people with sensitivities. If you are allergic to something in particular, let us know and we can make sure we don't use it. You'll have a private, bike-friendly, elderly-friendly entrance and be surrounded by friendly neighbors. Note: There are thousands of unlicensed Airbnbs in Portland but ours is fully licensed, which means we have met all the safety standards and are actually legit! You'll have full access to the apartment via a private entrance. On-street parking is generally available right out in front of the house. You will access your apartment via a coded lock which means you can come and go freely and not worry about keys. We live in the home above, and are available when needed, though also very respectful of guests' privacy. Our "walkability" score is 86, 50 for transit and 97 for biking. The Alberta Street area is just two blocks away, which means you are within short walking distance of tons of interesting eateries, shops and bars. Within 3 to 5 blocks you can find tasty thai, spanish, mexican, iraqi, irish, japanese, italian and vegan food, as well as some of the most delicious coffee and cocktails in town. We are also close to several key bus lines (download the Trimet app for easy planning) and are a fairly short Lyft/Uber ride to many other neighborhoods. While many guests rent a car, we have had quite a few do without and they've had a great time. Downtown is the center of Portland, and home to Powell's and other must-see spots, but it's not necessarily the most charming area to stay. Portland is more a series of walkable neighborhoods with shopping, dining and more residential feeling. Our particular neighborhood is 10-15 minutes from downtown by car (unless it's rush hour!) and easy to get to and from by bus. We are within a few blocks of 2 bus lines, and there is plenty of on-street parking on our block. If you decide not to have a car here, you can download the very-useful mass transit app, Trimet, or of course take Ubers, Lyfts or Taxis. Our Walkability score is 86, Transit 50 and biking 97! Distances to main attractions: Downtown Portland 5 miles Pearl District 4 miles Alberta Arts district 1 block! Mississippi Avenue shopping district 2.8 miles OHSU Hospital 7 miles Smoking/vaping of cannabis/ tobacco are allowed outside the apartment as long as no kids are around. Please refrain from smoking inside, or close enough to the doors/windows that the smoke blows right in. We LOVE pets, but they are not allowed in the apartment to ensure that allergic guests can still stay with us in the future. WANT TO ARRIVE EARLY? We can accommodate that fairly often but charge a $25 fee to cover the rescheduling of the cleaner, etc. Feel free to ask and we will let you know if it's possible. PLEASE NOTE: We welcome longer stays, but with stays of two weeks or longer we will ask for a $130 cleaning fee instead of the $65. This can be used as one cleaning at the end, or a cleaning midway through your stay to refresh linens, etc. Oh and this SHOULD go without saying, but we 100% welcome guests of all shapes, sizes, colors, cultures, sexual orientations, and gender identities. You will also find that this neighborhood in general is very welcoming of all of the above.
