Pilot Mountain and Hanging Rock are excellent for hiking and within a thirty minute drive. Fifteen minutes from here is the oldest medicinal herbal garden in the United States. It's located in Bethabara, which, along with Old Bethania are great spots of history. Greensboro, NC is about 30 minutes away and High Point, NC is 20 minutes away (that's where the Furniture Market is). Piedmont Triad International Airport (PTI/GSO) is 17-20 minutes away. The space itself is clean, bright and airy. The kitchen may be the crown jewel of the apartment, with half of it encased in glass, allowing for lots of light and pretty views as you enjoy your morning coffee or evening wine. It has white quartz countertops, stainless steel appliances (including a dishwasher and garbage disposal) and a reclaimed granite backsplash. We've got it stocked with coffee, tea, a bit of breakfast and your kitchen essentials. Hardwood floors are throughout the apartment, minus the bathroom, which is tiled. The bathroom is remodeled and squeaky clean. There are bathroom basics stocked: hair dryer, soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, disposable razors, toothpaste etc. All of our supplies are natural & organic. There are two bedrooms, each with a king sized bed, small drawers, a desk and a place to sit. Both bedrooms have closets with luggage racks and hangers. One of the bedrooms has a small laundry closet with a stackable washer/dryer unit. The living room has a comfy couch that could sleep one. In addition, we have a small TV. We do not have cable, but we have an Amazon fire stick and very fast Internet. The apartment has two decks - a spacious one great for lounging and eating outside when the weather is nice, and another one out back being remodeled & extended mid-June 2019 for gazing at the pines or watching the fireflies. The apartment features filtered water throughout - we have a whole house water filtration system. As mentioned above, there is free, fast Internet. There is no smoking in the apartment. We have a compost bin and recycle if you like those things. The property is surrounded by plants and trees - and depending on time of year, vegetables, figs, blueberries, passion vines and kiwis - lending a feel of privacy or that you are living in a tree house, despite having downtown W-S in the view from your window, a minute or two walk away. Winston-Salem is enjoying the surge of the local food movement, with many independent restaurants supporting local farmers and the farmer's market. Krankie's Wherehouse, Muddy Creek, Mary's Gourmet Diner, Canteen 411, Black Mountain Chocolate and Twin City Hive are some locavore gems to explore. We invite all travelers, explorers, students, teachers, wanderers, artists, folks going to conferences or interviews and everyone else to stay with us. The entire apartment and both of the apartment's decks are yours to use. There is ample on-street parking. You do NOT need a permit to park on the street. Access to the apartment is on the side of left side of the house, via the deck. The deck has plenty of space for sunbathing and cooking out. We live downstairs from this apartment - and are generally easy to reach and available. If we happen to be out of town during your stay, we will make arrangements for a different contact person and clearly communicate those to you. The apartment is in a funky, tree-lined street two blocks away from Fourth Street and all of the hustle and bustle of downtown. Even though it's a two minute walk away from downtown, the apartment itself is quiet. The apartment is walkable to the downtown area, and surrounded by bike trails. The bus stop is at the corner of our street. Business 40 is nearby, making the apartment conveniently located for foot, bike, or car. There are a number of grocery stores within a few minutes drive of the apartments, and also markets a short walk from the apartment. Other things to note We have a 5 passenger VW Toureg available for rent through the Turo app (it's like Airbnb for cars!) if you need transportation. The apartment has Uber & lyft service. There are also a number of other car rental services within walking distance. So, if you have transportation, the apartment is 2 blocks from Business 40. Within a ten minute drive you have multiple supermarkets: Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, Publix, Harris Teeter and Food Lion. Wake Forest University and the medical school, Winston Salem State University, Salem College, NC School of the Arts and Forsyth Technical College are all within a ten minute drive or less. Reynolda Village is a ten minute or less drive. There is a market called Washington Perk within walking distance. There are more restaurants, cafes and bars in downtown Winston than we can keep up with, featuring multiple cuisines. There is a bus stop on the corner of the street. The main bus station in Winston-Salem is just 5 min away by foot. Hardwood floors and lots of windows and high ceilings throughout; the space is bright and spacious and clean. The kitchen features windows on two walls, making you feel like you are in a tree house. Stainless steel appliances, quartz counters and new cabinets make the kitchen feel clean and welcoming. We've stocked coffee, a variety of tea and some cooking basics for you. The entire house has filtered water: sinks, shower, dishwasher, laundry. The Internet is fabulous. The living room has a pull-out sofa bed that can sleep two. We have a futon stashed in the closet that can sleep a small adult or a child. Each bedroom has a king sized bed (one of them is a tempurpedic), a closet with hangers and a space for your luggage. There is a washing machine and dryer. The bathroom was recently renovated and is nice and clean, with soap, shampoo and conditioner for you if you've forgotten your own. You have a deck perfect for hanging out and having coffee or a cocktail, and a small deck in the back as well. There is a hairdryer, iron, ironing board, extra chairs, towels, sheets, pillows and blankets for you. The apartment is walkable to the BB&T Ball Field, the Innovation Quarter, the Children's Museum, Old Salem and art parks of downtown, not to mention the theaters, restaurants, cafes and bars. It is around a ten minute drive or less to Wake Forest University, the hospital, SECCA, WSSU, NCSA and the mall, making this an ideal location for students, professionals, families and anyone wanting to be close to everything in Winston-Salem.
