Our custom built home with unobstructed Donner Lake views offers tranquility and spaciousness by architectural design. You will have easy access to the lake being directly across the street from public piers. Enjoy the 25' high ceilings; two-story, stone fireplace; floor to ceiling windows, abundant light, radiant heat and soothing sounds of the creek. Spaces for quiet reading or gathering for conversation The space On Fourth of July watch the fireworks over Donner Lake from the front deck or take an easy walk to West End Beach or the boat launch for viewing without the hassle of parking a car. Our Lake House is ideal year round for a peaceful retreat or special time with family and friends after a day of outdoor fun. Our guests include honeymooners as well as runners, bikers and swimmers who come to train in the altitude or participate in the many competitive events nearby. We have many repeat guests who come annually. The ceilings are 25' high, soaring with light from every window. Skylights on the second floor flood the bedrooms and loft with natural light, creating an architectural design feature called 'borrowed light.' Three private bedrooms accommodate six: Primary = King, Creekside = Queen, Lakeside = Queen. Additionally, the open loft has two twin futons that serve as comfortable beds for two more (for a total of 8 in the house). Good for children or youth. The beautiful, reclaimed hardwood flooring and slate flooring are heated by a system of copper piping, beneath the floors, that offers comfort and cleanliness, no drying forced air heat. The floor to ceiling stone fireplace makes for cozy evenings in the Great Room. From early morning watch Donner Lake change throughout the day while relaxing and lingering on the porch in comfortable deck chairs. Take in sunset and the night sky from the pier just steps away, across Donner Pass Road. The practical kitchen is well equipped and offers GE Monogram stainless steel appliances, Wolf five burner cooktop, granite countertops, microwave, toaster and coffee make. There is an outdoor BBQ grill also. NOTE: This listing's nightly price includes the mandated Truckee tax. Be leery of listings that showcase only the nightly rental price and add an additional charge later for the tax not included in the "check availability" pricing. NOTE: Book early for the Christmas-New Year winter-high season to ensure getting on the cleaning service's schedule. Starts with the views - it always felt like the lake was just nearby, we haven't been in a home with more attention paid to the sight lines and window placement & construction. Date of Stay: June 12, 2015 This vacation home is bright, clean, and almost as breathtaking inside as the lake is outside. Uniquely positioned on a hillside with a creek bubbling nearby, my family would have been happy relaxing and playing games in the house all weekend. But, Donner Lake beckons from daybreak through the picturesque front windows. Several steps out the front door and you are at the waters edge. We kayaked, canoed, paddle boarded and enjoyed our time on the piers. The owner is all about customer satisfaction: timely response, personable, attention to detail, and good follow through. Gorgeous and serene donner lake home Date of Stay: February 14, 2015 We have stayed in many (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) properties and this was by far the best! The modern timber frame architecture of the home allows beautiful light by day and breathtaking views of the stars by night. Watching the pines appear and disappear like ghosts through the morning mist on the lake was spectacular. The interior finishes are lovely, the layout thoughtful and everything is clean and tidy. Our deposit check was returned in record speed. We were home for just two days when the kids began to ask when we would go back to "our Tahoe house." This is a great location for skiing with three top resorts within 10- 20 minutes of the property. We hope to return in summer to take in the lake and hiking. An amazing Experience! Date of Stay:December Such a beautifully stunning home. We didn't want to leave. The home is perfectly placed by the lake and close to everything. The interior is beautifully designed and very comforting and inviting. The kitchen is fully stocked with every utensil, pot, pan, you could ever need and it was all high quality. Being a first time home renter I am now spoiled. Every detail was easily laid out. The owner is very gracious and made us feel at home. We will definitely return. Guest access Vacation rental provides a garage (for two compact or one suv sized car) plus a covered carport for a compact sized car. Maximum 3 cars. There is no street parking available. Snow plowing in the winter is included. Other things to note To rent our home we ask that you accept a rental agreement. The terms and conditions are outlined below. Follow Town of Truckee's strict garbage and recycling rules to avoid fees. When requesting your reservation include the number of children and infants. Please provide their ages. If there are more than 6 guests in the house the cleaning service charges an additional fee, approximately $87.
