For a unique video description of this one of a kind landmark, search on YouTube for “The Zebra Press Duvall’s Tavern”. Just over 4,000 sq-ft with 12 total rooms - double parlor, office, and den on first floor; kitchen, dining room, and massive (450 sq-ft), front-to-back ballroom on 2nd floor. One bedroom on the 1st floor, two on the 3rd - each with a private, full en-suite bathroom. 4 queen-size beds in total. Option to set up 1 or 2 queen-size air mattresses in the ballroom, as well. Top-rated, Baby Europa crib available for our guests’ use. Suitable for infants and toddlers. Please advise in advance how you would prefer it configured and in which room set up. Duvall House features a cozy, private walled garden equipped with a dining area, lighting and a gas grill for our guests' use. For our prospective guests, please keep in mind that Duvall House is approaching 250 years old, and so it has its expected quirks and nuances. The kitchen is on the second floor as the home was literally built before indoor kitchens were common due to the risk of fire back in the day. There are a couple of doorways that are lower than standard and so those over 6 feet need to be aware and cautious. Likewise the bedrooms on the 3rd floor have sloped ceilings and so care needs to be taken when standing up in the gables. Lastly, while we maintain a monthly comprehensive professional pest service, guests may occasionally encounter a bug or even a mouse (particularly in the Winter as they escape the cold). We have hosted for over four years with zero negative experiences or reviews, but we prefer to be entirely truthful and transparent for those who may be overly sensitive. We believe the quirkiness adds character and uniqueness to this historic property. Guests have complete access to the entire house. Do note that the expansive ballroom on the 2nd floor is typically set up for functions and not intended as a day-to-day living space for our overnight guests. This avoids our constantly having to move all of the tables and chairs to the basement storage area. Otherwise make yourself at home!!! Owners live locally and are available to address any needs by text or email as they arise. Let us know if you would like any pre-stocking of food, wine, or other special requests upon your arrival. Located directly across from the front entrance to historic Alexandria City Hall, adjacent to iconic, gas lit Ivy Lane, and just steps from dozens of shops and restaurants. Free King Street trolley to D.C.- area metro, Uber/Lyft service, rental bikes readily available. Best walking conditions on the planet!
