Approximately 8 miles from Canterbury, where the cathedral dates back to the 11th century, enjoy a concert, or take a river tour. Whitstable, dubbed the ‘Pearl of Kent’ presents a great opportunity to indulge in sampling oysters for which it is renowned for. Alternatively, visit the port town of Hythe, with its interesting antique shops and fishing along the seafront. Roundwood Hall, for golf, is less than 2½ miles away and there is horse riding at Marberdan Riding Centre, 1 mile. For retail therapy, try McArthur Glen designer outlet, as well as Dover and the Channel Tunnel – both within easy driving distance for a day trip to France. Beach 10 miles.
