Chorao is a river island and houses the only bird sanctuary in Goa. It’s known for its beautiful drives and is extremely popular with cyclists and nature enthusiasts. Despite being an island Chorao has several road and river access and is very easy to get to. In fact its quite a unique experience getting here no matter which mode you choose to travel by.                                                                                                                      The approach from Panjim is though the Ribander Ferry. this ferry runs in quick successions starting  from morning 6 am to 2 am at night. Cars pay Rs10/- per trip and bikes and pedestrians are free. At other times one can take a Special ferry and pay Rs 150/- for the trip . It’s a gorgeous ferry ride as one gets a great 360 view of the mangroves to the North, old goa with its Mount Chapel on the east and the beautifully lit Panjim city and Atal Setu bridge on the western side. If you want to get a great quick tour of the Goan Country life, the road trip to Chorao through the Calvim bridge is a must. One crosses the iconic Villages of Carona and Aldona.
