Petite, stone-built, three-storey cottage with view from the living room window towards the beautiful River Sarthe. Originally a 14th century toll-house at the entrance to the riverside village of Avoise, this unique property is now an ideal holiday home for those seeking a quiet and relaxin stay in this beautiful region. Outer stone steps lead up to the entrance of the property (middle floor) and into the living and kitchen area. A spiral staircase leads up to the bedroom, shower and separate bathroom / WC on the top floor. The ground floor has a separate outer entrance and is currently used as a utility room (washing machine, dryer) and bike storage (two bicycles are provided). The bedroom has ancient ceiling beams and is equipped with a comfortable double bed, bedside tables, cupboard, drawers and a washbasin. The shower cubicle and (separate) WC are en-suite. The living / dining room has a two-seater sofa, arm-chair, coffee table, high-top dining table & chairs, dresser, DVD player, Apple TV, Bose speaker and ceramic wall-mounted heater. There are large windows overlooking the access lane to the river. The compact kitchen facilities have recently been upgraded and includes a stove, full oven, fridge with small freezer compartment, Nespresso machine, toaster, and kettle. Free unlimited wi-fi is available. All linens and towels are provided. You are a short 50 metre walk to the river. Take the folding chairs and enjoy a waterfront picnic, some fishing, a book, a bottle of wine... Plenty of free parking just a few meters away from the house. Guest access You have private access to the entire house. Other things to note We think that we are different in the fact that we want to provide guests with high-quality, functional, and comfortable vacation home rentals at an affordable price. Any excess returns we have from our rentals are turned-around and used to upgrade our properties to enhance our guests’ stay. We are not in this to make money! We created ‘Salt House Properties’ as a means to provide ourselves with vacation rentals in places we like to visit.
