Sweet Historic Adobe Home Old Town
Centrally located on a quiet street, Casa de Calderones is a hundred plus year old adobe home with an Old World feel. Lovingly restored with an artistic touch, the rooms are spacious and comfortable, and complimented by a delightful, private outdoor patio Casa de Calderones is 100+ year old adobe home built by the Calderon family. The Casa has been lovingly restored. The Dining Room showcases the original red painted wood floor and a large dining table. The Bedroom is carpeted and has a cozy wood stove. The Living Room, with two comfortable leather couches, is carpeted and has a gorgeous Persian rug. The Kitchen has a slate tile floor, granite countertops and sunny breakfast nook. The delightful, Victorian-esque bathroom has heated ceramic tile and a claw foot tub with shower. The lovely Outdoor Patios round out the property with dining areas set among the native plants and flowers and frequented by hummingbirds. The whole property is a delight to the senses. The whole house & the patio. There is Wifi and cable TV. We love to give guidance and suggestions as to places to eat, day trips, local activities. Historic Old Town Albuquerque, just 5 minutes away along Rio Grande Blvd, is full of great restaurants, shops and sight-seeing, museums and galleries, and summer-time events in the central plaza gazebo. Downtown Albuquerque, less than 10 minutes away, with the convention center, hotels, restaurants and movie theater. Rio Grande Nature Center, 5 minutes to the north. Rio Grande Bosque with nature trails and bike paths is a short drive or walk from the the house. Hiking on trails in the Sandia Foothills area: 20 minutes from the house. Hiking on cool mountain trails to the east: 45 minutes to Sandia National Forest area. Sandia Tram: 30 minutes away with incredible views! Large upscale malls: 20 minutes and 30 minutes. Balloon Fiesta Park: approx. 10 miles to the north Betty's Bath and Day Spa: 5 minutes way, soaking and massages. Petroglyph National Monument: 15 minutes away. Santa Fe: within an hour to the north with excellent restaurants, museums and galleries. Farther afield are numerous Native American pueblos many of which have feast days open to the public. In the Jemez Mountains, one hour north is Bandelier National Monument for hiking and seeing cliff dwellings and kivas. Bosque del Apache Wildlife Refuge: one hour south for migratory birdwatching. Acoma Sky City and Chaco Canyon, a majestic pueblo construction, are day trips to the west. The city bus does run along Rio Grande avenue. The Rail Runner commuter train stops downtown, and will take you south to Belen or north to Santa Fe. For those with mobility issues, the Casa does have a couple of steps into the house. Inside, the Living Room is one step below the rest of the floor area. The Bathroom has a claw foot tub; grab bars are installed.
