The former fishing village has developed into a popular holiday and seaside resort. Laboe is an old place and was first mentioned in 1240. The name Laboe derives from the Slavic "Lubodne", which means "Swan place". And even today, the swan is the heraldic animal of Laboe. The long, fine sandy beach slopes very gently towards the fjord, making it particularly suitable for families with small children. With the Kiel Fjord, one of the busiest waterways in the world, on the doorstep, "beach life" offers a special attraction for "sea people" who can watch the passing ships extensively. The panorama of Laboe is clearly dominated by the world-famous 85 m high marine memorial. This memorial commemorates the fate of all those who have remained at sea and is intended to call for peaceful seafaring on the high seas. From above, the visitor has a beautiful view over the fjord and the Baltic Sea in clear weather. At the foot of the memorial, the submarine u 995 has been located as a technical museum for several years. The movie "Das Boot" takes place on a submarine, which, like u 995, belongs to the famous class vii c. A visit to the U995 offers an impressive insight into the indescribable confinement in which the submarine men had to live for months. The Kiel Fjord is considered the sailing mecca ("Kiel Week") par excellence. In the immediate vicinity are the Danish islands of Langeland and Aero, the so-called "Danish South Seas." In the Laboe Marina, exhausted sailors find rest and relaxation. The Baltic Sea beach is only a few meters away. From this bedroom you can reach two covered loggias – one on the garden side with a green view and one on the fjord side with a fantastic sea view. In addition, a comfortable double sofa bed is available in the living room, which can be transformed into a full-fledged sleeping place in just a few simple steps. The living room is spacious and forms the center of the apartment. Here is also the dining area, where you can have breakfast, play or sit together comfortably. From the living room, you can also access the third balcony – also with sea views – which is ideal for quiet moments in the fresh air. The kitchen is located separately and can be reached via a corridor from the living area. It is fully equipped with a ceramic hob, oven, microwave, refrigerator, dishwasher and coffee machine – perfect for relaxed cooking evenings or a quick snack in between. Two modern bathrooms make vacation life even more pleasant: one is equipped with a shower, the other with a practical shower tub – ideal for families with children or for a soothing bath after a day at the sea. Several TVs and a hi-fi system provide entertainment if needed. In the communal garden area you will find additional highlights such as a barrel sauna, a hot tub and a barbecue corner with seats – everything is available for your free use. A laundry room with a washing machine and dryer is also available in the house – especially practical for longer stays.
